Daily depressive insomnia is killing me slowly..

Depression causing me to only sleep 3-4 hrs or less per night and is and has been affecting my entire life and has been going on for more than 2 years.

I have no energy to do anything, I have lost interest in things I used to enjoy, exercise is extremely difficult and the daily headaches, dizziness and nausea limit my ability to participate in life. I withdraw from people as they irritate me and as a result I have no friends, no family, no social support system.

I've tried numerous medications, melatonin, mindfulness, several therapists and it continues unabated. Due to my listlessness, I feel like I am now a burden to my spouse and not being an equal partner in our relationship.

It is getting harder and harder to get through each day and I feel the pointlessness of it all..

Why are you depressed? Take one step today towards fixing it. Repeat tomorrow. Watch the beauty of compound interest.

FWIW, I am in a similar boat re anhedonia, deprrssjon, and sleep, and my neurologist actually referred me to do an overnight 20-hour sleep study next month. My understanding is that most wearables, including even the $3500 device that the doctor had me use overnight, aren't really that good and can often only detect a limited number of sleep disorders. Perhaps you have a sleep disorder that is causing your depression and not the other way around?

Also, how is your sleep hygiene? Are you self sabotaging yourself (I'm looking in the mirror right now). Before my sleep study my doc wants me to keep a simple journal of hours of sleep, time awake, time asleep, and quick notes of time and very brief description of any medications, caffeinated or alcoholic beverages and exercises. Also, she told me to keep my phone outside of my bedroom and not to look at my phone at night is I can't sleep.

Thanks. Yes, sleep hygiene is good and have been following guidelines of CBT for insomnia. (Lots of info online about this).

Sleep study did not reveal anything unusual except for a low sleep efficiency.

Sounds like they had you using a CPAP machine to see if you have sleep apnea. Tried one of those and it made no difference. You may have the same problem I had where your apnea is central sleep apnea, not obstructive sleep apnea. Hope your polysomnogram (sleep study) goes well!

Which meds are you taking for the insomnia, depression and anhedonia? Do you have problems with side effects?

I know you said you have tried many medications, but have you tried Remeron? I was having the same problems with sleep until the ER doctor recommended Remeron. It helped tremendously with sleep and I started getting 7-8 hours per night again.
