Is crying ok

I’ve been told by some friends and some family members that I should cry as much as I need to when I feel sad and the pain Is unbearable. My question is: how much crying when depressed is okay? I notice I am still sad after crying for a while. I remember in the past it used feel relief. Not now.

Interesting question. I suppose the answer is different for everyone. Do you feel worse when you don't cry? Maybe the crying at least keeps you from feeling. even sadder. I remember years ago reading how crying (especially in women) can be a beneficial re-set process. If the crying doesn't make you feel worse, then I think you should go ahead and cry.
