I need urgent help for my cousin

Hello, I have a cousin who needs urgent psychological help. right now he has a very big crisis of depression and he does not want to take medication or see a professional. His parents are very overwhelmed because they cannot help him because they live in different countries. My cousin currently lives in Florida. please tell me what can i do?

I’m sorry you haven’t gotten any responses but I don’t even know what to say. My mother was suicidal and my daughter was an active drunk. No matter what I did, I couldn’t fix them.

We have something in the State of Florida called the Baker Act. Law enforcement and social services can get involved if the person is a danger to themselves or others. Maybe see if you, as a concerned family member, can reach out on their behalf.

Can you send an ambulance for a wellness check? They can do a mine eval at the scene.

The problem is no one can be forced unless you do attempt the Baker Act.

Are you close by?

This is very hard to cope with. Knowing someone needs help and having your hands tied. I'm so sorry you are going through this

This was quite awhile ago, but the sad thing is, and I’m a firm believer of this, and it’s very hard with family members especially is, you can’t help those who won’t help themselves. It’s a cliche saying, but it’s extremely true! The person needs to realize they need help or there is no use trying to help them.
