I’d decided to Jeff this one, following my recovery plan and as agreed with my Cardiac team ❤️🩹 The run was successful and, even though I wasn’t worried about my time, I still finished at an average pace of 7:48/km. I’m going to continue Jeffing on my longer runs as that seems to work for me (and satisfies the Cardiac team too!) Although the course was obviously accurately measured, Strava said I ran 10.37 km. The ‘plus’ side was that, once I saw the finish line I had enough left in the tank to finish strongly and apparently completed the final 0.37km at a pace of 6:11/km. I’m pleased with that!
Everyone was very friendly and the atmosphere was great! Although I didn’t have any problems with baggage drop, a couple of friends who were taking part mentioned the slowness of reclaiming their bags. That’s the last thing I’d want after a long run 😒

Well done David - great achievement given all you’ve been through! 🙂🏃🏽
Yes, my Garmin recorded 10.25k. I think these courses are measured ‘shortest route’ but of course in a mass event like this we have lots of moving around folk and are often running wide around bends on meandering routes so we tend to run a little more.
That’s brilliant David. The bling is great isn’t it? My Garmin made it 10.45 km though my old Apple watch says under 10k though I think the gps is not too good on it.
Thanks Mudita11 I’m very impressed with the bling! 🏅As for GPS/Garmin, I suspect the huge buildings round the route don’t help. As Sandraj39 mentioned earlier, it’s often the case that we can’t run the ‘ideal’ line because of other runners, obstructions etc. so we’re unlikely to get the exact distance. I did the Chichester 10K earlier this month and that came out at precisely 10K on Strava. Most of it was on Goodwood Motor Racing circuit though and there were far fewer competitors, so there were no issues with buildings or overcrowding! 😊👍’
You and your cardiac team must be thrilled. Your base line fitness and running must have given your recovery a huge boost and was probably much faster than if you didn't have it.
Thanks Irishprincess I’m looking forward to showing the Cardiac Team how I got on, particularly the heart rate! ❤️
I’m sure my baseline fitness helped my survival in the first place and has contributed hugely to the pace of my recovery ❤️🩹
I’m not sure I’d have recovered as well as I have without the support of family and my running friends, both on here and my running club and from the Parkrun community!
