Well, itβs the final month of the year and, while the race calendar is thinning out a bit and preparing for a much needed break, we are still expecting some Santa runs during December, if nothing else π
This is where to come if you have a race, or several, and want a pompom cheer from your VRBs. Any distance, any location, any country. Fancy dress might be optional and, if so, we want to see the photos please!
Whether itβs a fun race or a very serious one or even something in between, please tell us the name of the event, the date and a link to the website if possible. Weβll enter all of this on the attached spreadsheet and the Elves will then arrange to send you on your way with a huge pompom cheer from your VRBs on the Friday beforehand π₯³ How can you resist?
Iβve not signed up for anything yet Irishprincess , although they are doing a 5k and 10k Santa Run (Turkey Trot) on the seafront on 22nd December. Weβve actually got 5 parkruns in 2 weeks where we can dress in Santa outfits for nothing , so Iβm not inclined to pay Β£20 to run yet. Who can tell as we get nearer though?
I was viewing a huge pair of dangly Santa earrings today thinking I might wear them for my Christmas run but in the end thought theyβd be very annoying π
Yes, a local Santa Dash booked for me on 15th December. Festive costumes are encouraged of course, with the option of a 5 or 10k. The plan at the moment is a 10k and this will be on local parkland and trails that I know like the back of my hand!ππ π
Sounds a lot of fun Sandra π I have booked a race for that day too but not sure if I will be ready for 10K by then. But if I go for it then we can run together π€
As you know Β Irishprincess Iβve ( on Tuesday) signed up for the Great Run Solo - Christmas Accumulator Challenge 2024 virtual challenge 12run or 12 walks. Like the twelve days of Xmas each day you can add a bit of festive fun by maybe dressing up or on another day as you walk or run spot how many Xmas trees you see on your route etc ,that kind of thing. There is a beautiful festive medal and if your goal reaches a good target youβll also receive a festive digital certificate. This starts on the 1st December till 25th December. Each run can be as long or short as you wish.Does this count ?πββοΈx
Iβve just entered too! I was thinking about a Santa run but none locally fit. This looks like a Great (pun intended!) alternative!! Thanks for the inspiration!
It absolutely does count! Sounds wonderful Folkylass and a lot of fun too. Make sure you post as you do it so we can follow you on your various challenges π€
1st December - the 'Semi-marathon' in Bordeaux. Going with TailChaser . A good excuse for a girlie-weekend with Christmas Markets, French food and drink and 13.1 miles to run!!! Meeting up with some of my France-based running buddies too! semidebordeaux.fr.
6th December - another 10 miles walking the Cotswold Way from Dyrham to Lansdown.
14th December - Grande finale of the Cotswold Way walk. The final 3 miles from Lansdown to the centre of Bath will be part of a 6 mile circular walk starting in the Centre of Bath. Organised by the wonderful woman that is rjfitness.co.uk, (who has looked after us all the way from Chipping Campden in January) this is another girlie weekend staying in Bath, where another Christmas market and more food and drink will be on the agenda.
The people of Valencia have experienced a tragedy over the last month with so many lives lost. But with the reopening of road and rail links the marathon can give a much needed boost to the economy. Also there will be an opportunity for runners to donate to the relief efforts.
A Spanish supermarket owner has said that he will give 1 million euros to anyone who beats the world record. So all I need to do is run a sub 2 hours and 35 seconds!
Hi Irishprincess ! Hoping to do this one again , but the day before Kenny leaves the Island for his daughter's kidney transplant ,so might not happen . Depend on arrangements nearer the time! Xxx evententry.co.uk/the-soup-r...
Thank you and that's the reason I went to Heaton Park parkrun Last week and then did a half marathon this week, it's made me feel better about doing it now
Iβve signed up for an indoor race at Lee Valley on the 8th December. Itβs a double 60m event so I get two cracks of the whip. Fingers very much crossed as Iβm not feeling great at the moment.
I havenβt run a 60m race since January last year as I dislike them intensely but my coach has insisted that I need to do these to improve my 100m times. Itβll be good anyway to get a performance under my belt and recorded in the official national rankings list if nothing else. Iβm also slightly intrigued as to where Iβll end up on it tbh.
1st December - Bordeaux Half Marathon with Shake-and-run . Particularly looking forward to the pre and post race carb loading and recovery π
8th December - Milton Keynes Half Marathon with Katnap . Probably involve some Guinness at some point!
15th December - Winter Series #3 with Katnap and Time_Lord . Guess what that involves π
22nd December - Birmingham Winter 10k thing with Shake-and-run . Entry dependent on whether I have energy left/any injuries after the other ones and if Iβve done all my Christmas shopping.
