Running to Work

I’ve been feeling a little less than motivated at the end of this week. Someone (OF or MU) advised me to try something new and so I did.

First time I’ve run to work. Nice slow pace - carrying a backpack with laptop, etc. Turns out it’s about 3K. Really enjoyed it. Now to find a shower on campus.

Anyone have recommendations for a lightweight backpack to carry electronics, change of clothes, etc?

Thanks!!!

What a great idea! Does that mean you run back home again after work too?

I can't recommend a backpack but googling 'lightweight running backpack' comes up with many options to choose from, so it's very much 'a thing' 😊 Hopefully someone else will be able to help.

I didn't run back home, too. I thought once was enough for the first attempt.

Yes, I've done some googling as well and found one that's been recommended. Looking to find that shower on campus...

What a fab idea! Sorry I can’t recommend a backpack but could you leave a set of clothes in work so you don’t have to carry them?

Well done - how far to your workplace? Sorry, I can’t help with the backpack but I agree that a good ol’ google should help you!

My friend kindly gave me his deluxe OMM lightweight backpack. It's impressively light, but I've not really got on with it. There's not much padding on the straps and they're a bit too close at the top so rub my neck. I've reverted to my very cheap Go-outdoors backpack. All I generally use it for is carrying specs, snacks, water, keys for longer runs.

I can't see a lot of benefit in a super lightweight pack when you're carrying heavy things in it. I'd rather have good padding and straps that don't rub and stop it bouncing around, so I think fit is more important than weight. Care is needed when packing too, so things don't poke you in the back all the way.

Thanks for the tips. I'll definitely be looking into it if this becomes a regular activity!

I’ve just bought the 2XU commuter backpack to run to the gym. It’s perfect for that purpose. I have got a dedicated hydration vest which I love for long runs but it didn’t fit the kit I needed for the gym.

Not what you're looking for?
