Do you have an event in August? It's typically not a busy month but I'm sure we will have some intrepid, heat defying racers who have plans.
If that includes you, let us know in the comments below and we will rally our infamous support to help you over that finish line - sunglasses and sunscreen donned, pom poms waving and voices louding cheering to remind you that we're all right behind you.
Whether it's your first event, a milestone race, your toughest startline to date or simply an excuse for another piece of bling; a 5k or an ultra - or any distance in between; a serious challenge or a fun in the sun run .... add the details of your event in the comments below.
All we need is the date and a link to the race website if possible , and any info about what the race means to you - then simply wait for the wave of support and encouragement that will be with you every step of the way.
hi, Iβm in France until mid-Aug but on return to π¬π§ I have a busy agenda. I am walking 2 sections of the Cotswold Way during August. On the 18th, Section 8 (Kings Stanley to Dursley) as part of the programme to walk the whole 102 miles by Christmas with rjfitness.co.uk. And on Wednesday 28th Iβm getting together with a group of the ladies to catch up on section 5 that we all missed back in May.
On Sunday 25th August Iβm hoping to do a 10k with Pershore Plum Plodders (not actually entered it yet). Multi terrain flat (why do run organisers always say that and it never is) course. Medal, bottle of water and a plum when you finish in Pershore Abbey Grounds. More info at entrycentral.com.
My widely broadcast favourite, the Severn Bridge 10k is on Sunday August 25th! Iβve run this every year since I started running in 2018 without a break, even for Covid when it was run as a time trial. I love it!
Itβs been as hot as 28 degrees, windy, still - no rain (yet), but a friend told me that in 2017 it was horizontal wind and rain! π³ Bring it on, I say!
This year they arenβt allowed to close the motorway, so itβll be on the cycle/footpath instead. Much as itβs great fun running on the closed M48, it wonβt affect my enjoyment.
I've got an I.O.W relay race on 10th August ,we usually go round the island but because of cliff falls its across the island instead and back! No event page except Facebook page.I'm in the Ventnor Sloggers team, a social running group there are usually around 8 teams, we come last the past 2 years ! Can we make it a hat trick! ???
I've got a short stretch only bit under 4 miles but pretty hilly! Running with my friend Maggie and bruv Paul ! Xxx
Hello Linda π You knew I would eventually didnβt you π
Just the one: the Solihull HM on the 11th. Weβve got to do an extra 3 miles as the plan asks for 16 miles that day. We did it last year, undulating but a nice one in and out of the posh bits of south Birmingham. One of my freebies from volunteering for RunThrough with Shake-and-run
You know us too well Linda π Just me and Katnap. I think Shakes has got a big walk. Weβll actually be doing 16 miles as that is what is on the training plan, so there will be a bit of a warm up before hand.
I'm hoping to run the Clapham Common 5K on 4 August in my search for bling! It's going to be a busy month with lots of commitments, so that might be my only chance. Thanks!!
I wanted to get a higher mileage week done first before committing to this (yet again π) but everything is good and the body feels grand so Iβm going for it!
The Antrim Coast HM on 25th August. Iβm hoping the sea will keep things cool π
All things being equal and stars aligning correctly I hope to be at the World Masters Athletics Championships in August.
I travel on 11th and return on the 20th. My first race is at 14:40 on the 13th which is the heats of the 100m. Should I progress to the semi finals then they will be in the afternoon of the 14th at 14:00 and the final will be in the evening at 17:05.
I then have the 4 x 100 on 17th (no time yet). My favourite event!
18th at 09:40 are the heats of the 200m. 19th at 09:00 is the semi final and final of the 200m is at 15:00.
Iβm currently nursing my groin strain back to health and so far itβs all heading in the right direction.
That came round again fast. Exciting times Brian (yep, we can rely on you for very exciting times)!I just took a look back on Strava to see how the last race went - hopefully the adductor issue is all repaired now as you don't mention it.
Hi Linda, Iβm looking forward to it for sure but also with some trepidation as the injury is still there but feeling so much better. I havenβt raced since which has meant my final preparations are far from ideal. I just hope this adductor holds out. π π€
Meant to add last year was the European Champs, this year itβs the World Champs. Iβve never been to one of these before. π¬ Over 8000 athletes.
ooh I forgot to add my event this Friday , 9th Aug, its the annual Sleaford Striders cake run!!! This is everyone's favourite 10km, so many cakes once we finish , no wonder everyone walks round with a massive grin on their face ππππ°π§. This will be my third time in this event, I wonder why??!!ππ.
