FRIDAY FANFARE 🥳🎺 POM-POMS ARE HERE!!

The last weekend of April and it’ll soon be the 1st May. Until then we have pompoms to wave for our super duper VRBs tackling events over the next two days.

⭐️  Shake-and-run starts us off on Saturday with an 8-10 mile yomp, the 4th section of the Cotswold Way Walk. She’s already done the first three sections so this should be a dawdle for our adventurous wanderer. The route starts from Cleeve Hill and goes to Birdlip taking in the beautiful surroundings of this part of the Cotswolds. Let’s hope there is lots of cake at the end Shakes 🍰

With no time to rest she is then organising her cycle club’s Spring Challenge on Sunday which means she has to recce the 75 miles beforehand! A busy weekend Shakes!

⭐️ Also on Sunday  Sandraj39 is running the Aldershot Little Troopers 10K. What a lovely name for an event 🥰

Little Troopers is a charity supporting children whose parents are in the military and this is their inaugural event, so a chance to be part of their history. The course is “flat, fast and flowing multi-terrain with the majority of the race on roads and tarmac footpaths, and a short section along the Basingstoke Canal towpath.”

We know you’ll be in your element with the terrain Sandra so bring back the bling 🏅

⭐️ Our last VRB (that we know of) is  Hedgehogs123 who is running the Boston HM. No,not that one! The other one!

Recognised as the “flattest UK Marathon” there is ample opportunity to try for a PB or, alternatively, just take it easier and enjoy everything the route has to offer.

Set amidst the gorgeous views of coastal Lincolnshire, the route takes runners along rural fenland countryside through quaint villages and country lanes. Sounds beautiful 🥰

[Shake-and-run Half Marathon]

Thanks for the shout out IP! The walk tomorrow goes from Cleeve Hill to Leckhampton Hill, a total of 11 miles! Sounds like there will be at least 2 ‘ups’ to negotiate and the forecast is not promising with the likelihood of rain. But we have good clothing and sturdy footwear so we should not get too damp. It’s just a pity it spoils the view!! Once completed my little band of merry friends and I will be one third of the way to Bath! Just another 60 odd miles to go.

Good luck Shakes. Hope the weather turns out better than predicted. Sunny days are not always good news for walking. As we who live in North Yorks know, “It is the bright day that brings forth the adder, and that craves wary walking.” So watch where you are putting your feet 🙂
