I’m glad the Pom-pom shakers where out, that virtual help was amazing!

The weather was kind, not a drop of rain, in fact the sun made an appearance and the temperature came up significantly - I was pouring sweat off (I do even in winter so not that unusual).

The run is huge, 2nd biggest to London, they were expecting 26,500 finishers. There was plenty of entertainment en route, music of all genres.

The last 10k was a killer and Jeffed quite heavily - I was trying to keep my HR in zone 3 to make it comfortable.

I’d set a target of 5.20 and finished in 5.21.26 however this was over 42.66km - I’m guessing the anomoly is non-optimal lines on the bends. Clocked 42.2 at 5.18.15 so happy with that.

Huge congratulations on your first marathon! Wow, hats some amount of people. A marathon is a tough run and it takes a toll, you did extremely well to got to 10k to go and start jeffing.

How did you find the hydration pack? I'm debating on bringing one for mine next month.

Debated the vest for a long time. Was glad I took it. Drained most of the litre in it as well as using all the water stations on the route. I sweat heavily though and am always conscious of dehydrating on longer runs.

Congratulations to you Reggit on completing the Manchester Marathon, I know two runners from parkrun who also completed it, like you they both struggled in the last 6 miles/10 kilometers, they call that in a marathon, "hitting the wall," nevertheless you deserve to be very proud of yourself, have a well deserved rest and celebrate your wonderful achievement.

Congratulations Reggit! It was quite a day wasn’t it? Hope you’re not feeling too stiff and achey now the glow may have subsided.

Very unusual to do an exact 42.2km because of all the weaving around people and width of the course. During the major marathons they put a line down the centre of the course for the Elites to follow so they do get the correct distance.

Congratulations on your adventures in Manchester.

I’m not too bad - bruised foot and that’s about the only niggle remaining.

Actually went for a little run with our Monday social group - starting couch to 5k again for new people joining, so why not - everyone thought I was bonkers 😛
