Perfect running weather here today, so out for my Easter Sunday long run late morning.

I ran a mixture of road and trail today. The Downslink and footpaths were still very waterlogged in places and the local clay-based soil here means that it can be really slow to drain and very sticky! Lots of puddle-splashing too!πŸ’¦πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Anyway, on I trudged - and feeling good despite the conditions, although it was nice to hit the easier roads on my way back!

12k run in total - my longest run since June last year. All those months on the injury couch now a distant memoryβ€¦πŸ€ž πŸ™‚

Happy Easter all!πŸ™‚πŸ£πŸŒ·πŸ°

That's great, I wonder if it's part of the Downslink I run?

Sandraj39 profile image

Most likely - it runs from St Martha’s in Guildford down to Shoreham- by-Sea, connecting the North and South Downs. πŸ™‚

I run along the Shoreham section, not all of it though

Fabulous to read the injury couch is a distant memory πŸ˜ŠπŸ™ŒπŸ»

Do you wear trails shoes on your muddy runs?

Sandraj39 profile image
Sandraj39Half Marathon in reply to Dendev75

Oh yes! They don’t stop me getting wet feet when the mud and puddles are deep of course but the uppers are sturdier and the grip better than my road shoes, so they are much better in the mud and on grassy trails. I have the Hoka Speedgoat 5’s (my road shoes are Hoka Clifton’s) πŸ‘ŸπŸ™‚

Excellent run Sandra. I know that β€œgreat to be back” feeling; you have captured it brilliantly. So good to hear.

You chose a good day in terms of weather….Mondays are my long run days; tomorrow is supposed to be wet and cold…..hey ho! Character forming my old mum would have said πŸ™‚

That sounds wonderful. It always amazes me how slowly recovery goes, yet how quickly I forget and simply get to enjoy the milestones all over again 😊. So glad you're back πŸ₯°.
