So I had signed myself up for the family festival of running Pomphrey Hill 10K with my daughter but had never run this course. I was aware of the hill but had never seen how steep it was. So having never run the course my fitst surprise was the starting 300 metres is up hill. What I couldn't believe it quite a shock to the system. Having covered this the next 2.5 kilometres was quite nice akong a cycle path although you did have to be aware of the cyclist as the path hadn't been closed off for the race. But then came the hill which although to some might have been quite a short distance to a lady of my age it was a killer and guess what we ran the course 3 times so the hill was visited 3 times. I have to admit I walked it every time because it was so steep. But I can report I completed the race in 1hr 5mins so not a bad result and the weather was lovely. The imafe is myself with my daughter and my son who decided to do the race minutes before the start having not trained. I think hes feeling it today.

Well done! Congratulations 🎉.
Three laps with a great hill each time is cruel of the organisers 😁. Yeah walk em if they’re really steep. It makes sense 🙂
A family event sounds lovely. Just the job 👍. I hope you’re all rested and feeling good 👍
Well done to you and how lovely to share the run with your son and daughter. 🎉👏🏃♀️🏃🏻♂️🏃♀️🏅
Yes it was lovely chatting as we ran round the course xxx
Great result there NannyShirl.
On my way home from Eastville ParkRun, I dropped in for a coffee just before the 10k started so you must have run past me!
Great weather for the day wasn’t it. Whilst wandering round the event, it seemed really unfortunate to me that they’d positioned the ambulance right at the end of the finish funnel!
Well done Nannyshirl , that’s brill! Sitting down, my legs groaned just reading about that 300m hill AT THE BEGINNING! That’s harsh, but you did it. Nice to have your children there too. 😊
Oh how lovely! Well done you! Hills can be killers, especially if you aren't expecting them!
Well done Nannyshirl, pomphrey hill is my home parkrun, the hill is a good one and you do learn to love it!! Its was once a muddy mess but now it is beautiful dressed in fresh fine gravel it's much better.
