I said I would post about Chester I believe there were around 7,000 doing both the Marathon/Metric and the Mini

A glorious day weather wise (22 degrees) by lunch time brutal really for running 😧

Chester is beautiful and running round the city is great and very well supported, not so much when your out on the country roads which felt a little lonely until you join the marathon runners who start an hour earlier. I think the first one I saw was at around mile 6 for me .

The undulating course was tough at times in the heat and sadly quite a few runners needing medical assistance was sad to see but the volunteers medical staff were incredible. A very well organised run with loads of water stations and gels at each one.

the medal goodie bag and technical top are fabulous.

would I do it again … yes but not on my own those long country lanes were hard at times !

Well done dory950 😍

That’s my next distance goal & I’m doing it solo.

Good luck with it 😊 I have done the distance 3 times in runs/races but I don’t think the heat helped yesterday

Ooh that's warm for 26.2km!!! Well done on finishing. I don't remember feeling lonely on the country lanes, but that's probably because it would just feel like a training run for me and I do like a bit of peace, even during a race 🀣 It's amazing joining up with full marathon runners isn't it ... especially when they go speeding past! Congratulations on a well earned medal and new badge 😊

I think it's the only UK event over that distance isn't it?

Well done! It sounds similar to Loch Ness. The first time I've run a race with music on bone conduction head phones because I knew there'd be less crowds. It helped but yes company would help too!

Congratulations! Not many Metric marathons around. Such a shame as I'd love to try one! Was this your first?

Thank you and yes it was my first . I have ran the distance a few times but not in an official race . It’s a very well organised event so you should try it if you can next year 😊

Great run and post dory950. The β€œlonely” part would have had me wondering whether I had gone to wrong way! The thought of attempting a metric marathon keeps floating into my head, but I promptly push it out again… too old, too far etc. 10 miles to HM feels ok now….but MM sounds like a big additional push. Think I will just look on and admire πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™‚

Give it a go if you can ! I think it was a combination of the heat that was making it harder . There were always other runners about . You are never too old 😊
