Iβm writing this on the train home (so excuse the wobbly writing π) on Monday the day after running the London Vitality 10000.
After parkrun on Saturday we got a train to London and to the hotel. Very excited to be running in this event for the second time. Iβd read on social media that lots of people hadnβt received their bib number but I was one of the lucky ones and mine had arrived in plenty of time.
On Sunday morning Mr Mudita (who wasnβt running) and I got to Green Park next to Buckingham Palace and we met up with my lovely niece. She runs with a running club and is about twice as fast as me and was heading off in a wave long before mine. Before we went our separate ways we found the Womenβs Running tent and had a chat with the two hilarious women who produce the podcast of the same name. A few photographs later and it was time to head for the start line.
There wasnβt a warm up but luckily most of us were stretching and jumping around anyway out of excitement or nerves. And we were off!
There were choirs and bands along the way and of course the amazing sights such as Admiralty Arch, St Paulβs Cathedral, lots of theatres, Big Ben. I saw a Prince but not a royal one - someone dressed as the artist formerly known as Prince, in full costume and carrying a guitar. He was running with us and must have been very hot! Saying that the weather was just about perfect for a run, cloudy with occasional cool breezes.
At last we reached Birdcage Walk and Buckingham Palace was in sight. Made it over the finish line in 1:04:43 according to my watch, though still awaiting the official time. Thatβs a pb for me so I was delighted and exhausted.
Really love this yearβs t-shirt (pictured) and of course the bling. The atmosphere was great and I just might do this run again next September.

Congratulations on you race. Super time and the pic is lovely. Now I know what to expect through the post soon and Iβm even more excited β¦.if thatβs at all possible ππ.I did the virtual on the 19th.
I also received my bib number in plenty of time too.
Now celebrate your great achievement ππββοΈπββοΈππππ₯³π₯³x
What an amazing run, and a PB, so very well done you, and your niece. What an experience, I love the medal and tee shirt too. That skort is beautiful π»
Congratulations to you Mudita11 on completing the London Vitality Virtual 10,000 in a time of 1:04:40, that's a great photo of you and what you call your niece, the gazelle, also a lovely T π shirt
Thank you Al. I took the photo of the t-shirt and medal in bad lighting so theyβre even better in real life. My niece completed the run in 49 minutes! Sheβs amazing
Such a great event for you and your speedy speedster niece! Love the photo. So envious that you got to meet the Womenβs Running pod ladies too. Extra well done on the PB! Wear your bling with pride! πββοΈππ
How lovely to meet up with your niece before the run Β Mudita11 . I havenβt heard of the Hilarious Runners, must check them out.
Glad you had an enjoyable run and a PB time, that is good. My PB of 1:09 is that race in 2022.
I am hoping the race returns to its normal slot in May next year, it was shifted to September because of the coronation this year. September is too busy for me.
Thanks Dexy5 . It was a great day for sure. Next year it is in September again which is a shame as I would have preferred it to return to the May Bank Holiday myself. Donβt know if this is a permanent change though.
You should look out for the Womenβs Running podcast because it is really funny. Lots of swearing and talk about all sorts of things, as well as running π¬π€£π€£
