When I bought this medal in January last year, I decided I would award it to myself when I ran 10 miles (16K), as that was something I hadn't done for some months. That was before I knew I would need Thyroid surgery, and medication, and a long time getting that anywhere near correct. ......little did I know how hard this would be, or how long it would take me! It's been a long journey, helped along by Coach Bennet of NRC...I finally ran the distance today.. not fast, not pretty, but I did it!
I never even looked at the medal when it arrived, just put it aside until I had earned it, so I didn't know, or had forgotten, that it had last year's date on it. I don't care, if anything it makes it all the more merited.

Congratulations Curlygurly2 - what a great feeling to be back at 10 miles after what sounds like a difficult time for you. Love the medal - and who cares about the date…you dreamed, you believed and you achieved!!🙂👏👏
Oooh...there is nothing like a nice bit of bling to motivate! It will be all the more special now that you've overcome all those challenges. Well done 👏
This is the NRC half Marathon plan, I've still got a few weeks to go... it was an old plan of mine to give myself this medal at 10 miles, but there's still a bit of the HM plan to go.
Is that another NRC plan? Are there more than one? I'm alredy wondering what I'll do when this one is over..I looked at your HM, I quite fancy the 10K race....my SIL lives nearish, you never know if you might bump into me....
10 miles is a very satisfying distance, especially when you have had to go through so much to get back there. The detail doesn’t matter; you got there through sheer determination. Just amazing 🥇🏆🥂
Thank you! It was hard terrain, my fault for choosing it, but I doubt I'd have been many minute faster on better paths. Gonna keep plodding along, hope the next one will be easier
