April, come she willβ¦ so hereβs your invitation to tell us all about your APRIL running events! π
They can be any distance and location, and we donβt care whether youβre a regular participant in races, or new to organised competitive events. Weβd just love to know what youβre up to!
All you need to do is reply to this post and let us know the name and date of your event, and include a link to the website if you can. Then weβll add you to the events list β see the link below β so that your VRBs can check out all the details, gather round virtually and give you a Friday POMPOM CHEER! π
Wishing you all the very best with your training, and enjoy your races! ππββοΈπββοΈ
I've got the Monsal Trail HM on 2nd April and the Beaconsfield 5 mile Trail Run (for the third time π) on 10th April (Easter Monday) - I can walk to this one from my own loo, what's not to love?!
Yes! Might have mentioned it a few times but I'm doing the Forest of Dean Spring Half. There are 3 of us from here doing it but I'll let them tell you.... π forestofdean-halfmarathon.c...
hi Cmoi, I have a 10k Easter Sunday run at Chasewater. nice-work.org.uk/races/Chas... . I first entered this event (to do the 5k) a few years ago but it was cancelled due to Covid and I ended up running it virtually at home. This time I will get to enjoy the views of the lake and an Easter Sunday lunch with my in-laws who live 5 mins walk from the start.
On the 16th April I will be taking to 2 wheels (canβt beat a bit if cross training!) as I do the Blossom Trail Sportive through the Vale of Evesham. cycleeveshamvale.org/blosso.... 49 miles of undulating countryside and some of the most amazing smells (from all that blossom). Iβve done this ride several times before and some of the stinkiest hills come right at the end when your legs are super tired.
Hi π Cmoi Mine is a modest event. Iβm running 5k for the Trussell Trust in their Race Against Hunger event on 1st April. Iβm aiming to raise Β£100 for this much needed charity. Iβm at a afternoon tea in the afternoon so will feed my face as a reward π
Kew Gardens Half Marathon. The entry gets the runner, 2 adult spectators and 2 children into the gardens. Thought that made it a bargain π€£ My 1st HM πrun-fest.com/kew-the-run/ke...
Great choice! I did this one last year and absolutely loved it. It was very well organised apart from loo queues at the start. They vowed they would fix that for this year, but ... TIP ALERT if the queues in the car park look mad ... there are Kew loos in the gardens, on the way to the start line that had no queue!!! π
Enjoy. It really is a lovely route, and as you say it's a great deal when you can all get into Kew afterwards too π They even had men's and women's fit t-shirts so I was super happy!
Hopefully - all things being crossed (and not just the buns)!!! I will be attempting my first marathon since completing C25k back in may 2020 - it will be the Paris marathon on 2nd April π
What a place to run your first marathon Hidden , though running with crossed buns of any description sounds extraordinarily difficult, not to say painful!
You go to Monsal Β Β nowster , leave me a number for the church, and I'll call and sing Renaissance sacred music down the phone to the congregation. That'll be an endurance event for them too! (My choir's singing at the Abbey Church in Conques at the end of April π)
Secondly, the bishop (retired) might just be expecting someone to be there at 11 am to narrate the passion account according to Matthew (26:14-27:66)β¦
I missed this post (just for a change π€£)! More here for the Monsal Trail on 2nd April. Katnap and I are doing the HM and youngest kitten is doing the 10k. Canβt wait!
(so far so good, Iβve resisted signing up to the virtual London Marathon, long may that continue!)
I'm doing my first organised race for some months on the 30 April in Nice, France. It offers a half marathon, 10 km and 5 km plus a childrens run. I am doing the 10 km.
Hi Cmoi Iβm attending my first outdoor event of the season on the 2nd April. Itβs the Portsmouth AC open meeting and Iβm entered in the 100 and 200 and hoping for a favourable wind.
I ran 17km yesterday so I'm on track to complete my training about a week ahead of schedule. That's just as well as I'll be on holiday in south Devon from 19-24 April! I'll still do a few short runs while I'm there, including Parkrun as it's nearby.
I have my very first HM raceπ± on 16th April!!!!
I know I can do the distance as Ive done it on my own but this will be my first official one!!π₯΄ Excited but also nervous, which I hope is normal????
As I see it HM distance is HM distance whether you run it solo or in an organised event Hedgehogs123 ! I assume that feeling nervous is normal, but I've only ever done two events as races definitely aren't my thing, they terrify me at the best of times.
As well as the Forest of Dean HM tomorrow, I have the Newport Marathon on 16th April. I donβt feel as well prepared as I have done for previous ones so Iβve no idea how this one will pan out!
Aha, I thought you were doing Forest of Dean tomorrow, but wasn't sure as you hadn't replied earlier! I'll add the Newport Marathon to the spreadsheet for you.
Irishprincess , if you're around, can you add SkiMonday to the pompom cheer please, though I think we're already over the tagging limit? I'd do it myself but I'm about to go out to teach!
Irishprincess : no worries if you canβt tag me on the pompom list. Iβll take encouragement from being virtually on the virtual pompom list. ππ
Hi Tasha, I'm sure we'll both complete our marathon, just maybe not a PB! There again, I often find that I run better when I don't feel well prepared at the start so we'll have to see. Have a great marathon!
sorry also for being late. But can I also be added for London on Sunday. Cannot really believe Iβm finally doing a βproperβ marathon after the virtual in 2020. Older but not much wiser but definitely creakier!! π€π»π€π»π
Hi all I will be running my first trail race tomorrow at the mendip raceway. I am taking on the 12k middle distance. They also have a 6k and 23k option.
Looking forward to testing myself on the climbs. +400 meters most of it looks like it's one hill.
