We have races over the two days of the weekend for a change so those pom-poms will be a bit tired by Monday. But give them a rest and a bit of TLC today (well, they do work every weekend!) so they are ready to go first thing on Saturday.
βοΈ The first of our fabulous weekend runners is Β Dendev75 who will have an early start on Saturday taking on the Loggerheads Trail 10K in Wales. Sheβs had a bit of bad luck and this will be her third time trying to get to the start line of an event. We wish you and your friend all the best of luck Dendev and hopefully the recent snow in Wales wonβt impact the raceΒ π€
EDIT: SADLY, Dendev75 βS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER CONDITIONS BUT WE WILL KEEP THE POM-POMS READY FOR THE RESCHEDULED RACE π₯³
βοΈ Next up and another Saturday event, this time weβre heading to London where the marvellous Β MarmaladeJane will be running the Battersea HM as part of her London Marathon training. The atmosphere will be pretty electric (see what I did thereΒ β‘οΈβ‘οΈ) so watch out for the static on all those fluffy pompoms MJΒ π
Β βοΈ Weβre into another day now and the first of our Sunday runners is the awesome Β Hedgehogs123 who will be burning up the miles in the Burghley 7 Miler, a scenic and beautiful looking run around the Burghley estate and surrounding area. Thatβs a great distance right there and it looks like a fab backdrop for some photos Hedghogs!
Β βοΈ The second of our Sunday runners is the race-demon Β Time_Lord who will be running the Stafford HM. Spectacular-spectator-support is promised and will, no doubt, help to carry you over the finish line TL.
Good luck and Bon Courage to each of youΒ ππΒ ππ Lots of pompom waving coming your way!
Has anyone else got an event this weekend or coming week? Itβs never too late for a pompom cheer. Give us your details here.

Thank you Irishprincess Iβm hoping it will go ahead but looking at this snow and weather warnings it has a high chance of being cancelled. Iβll keep you informed π€π»
Just had an email to say itβs cancelled. These running gods are not happy with me ππ oh well letβs hope 4th time lucky on my next event booking. π€π»
What a shame. Wales appears to have been hard hit with the snow. Iβll edit the post but keep your details so the responses make sense to anyone new seeing it!
Letβs hope you have a beautiful spring day when the race is re-scheduled ππ·
Iβve defrosted my pom poms and with much flapping gusto (is that even English) good luck to Dendev75 MarmaladeJane Time_Lord and Hedgehogs123 . πππ
I normally love winter running but even Iβm getting a bit fed up with it all now. The other day I was fantasising about shorts and vest weather πββοΈπ
Good luck to MarmaladeJane π good luck to Hedgehogs123 π and best of luck to Time_Lord π I hope the weather is kind and you enjoy your events ππ½ββοΈ π
We are throwing snowballs instead of pom-poms to all you lovely runners this weekend. Now isnβt a horse mandatory at Burghly? πββοΈ πββοΈ π
Waving warm, wet, windblown pompoms for you MarmaladeJane , Time_Lord and Hedgehogs123 - enjoy your respective events! Sending sympathy to Dendev75 too, such bad timing.
Good luck to all running this weekend. Dendev75 Iβm sorry your race was cancelled. Thatβs just bad luck but the stars will align for you at some point soon Iβm sure. π
Thank you all not sure about the 'awesome' Irishprincess but I'll take it!!π. Someone at Parkrun this morning was warning where the hills are, so I'm preparing for the finish where apparently you think it's downhill and then another uphill jumps out!! Well, it's my first time running a 7 miler, so I'll be giving it my best shot!!ππ
Thanks so much @Irishprincess and VRBs for my fluffy pom-poms. They did the trick. I finished!! Yeah. π And have been walking around for the rest of the day with my medal. It was my first HM in 18 years and I ran all the way at a pretty even pace. Overall pace was 11.29 min/mile which is my fastest long run pace so far (this time around not 18 years ago, I was more like a 10 min / mile pace back then. Anyway I donβt think I need to make that comparison. The key for me is that 19 weeks ago I could only run for 1 minute without stopping. Now what I canβt get my head around is having to double the distance in 6 weeks time. It doesnβt seem possible. I think I will need some advice on race strategy and may need to consider run / walk to get around comfortably. Also need to think about fuelling. I will pop back for some advice when Iβve rested. Right now my brain and body are only just functioning!
Hi everyone, thank you so much for all your good wishes!! I had a brilliant run at the Burghley 7 on Sunday. It was tough I will say, couple of hills that kind of just crept up and seemed to go on forever, however as I'm attempting the Yorkshire 3Peaks challenge in May, I've been doing a lot of strength , hill and trail training, which definately helped.
Its the first time I raced at a 7 miler so wasn't sure how it would go. Like all races, I love the excitement and nerves at the beginning of the race, and the banter and support both from other runners and the crowds cheering. Its a beautiful course, starts in front of Burghley house, out through Stamford and then up through beautiful countryside and then back into the grounds. Lovely medal, quite big and very heavy!!
I love this picture, it looks like I'm leading the pack, haha I wish!! Anyway I finished in 1:02;9 and 5th in my age category out of 36, so I was quite pleased. π π
