Prompted by Β Β MissUnderstanding βs post recently, (thank you MissU ππ), I decided I needed a new year treat. Sportshoes.com had a great offer and just one pair left in my size. I was left with little choice π
These are Nike Maxfly sprinting spikes which will help me go faster I hope. ππ Those spikes are vicious!
Iβm not too enamoured with the colourway but that doesnβt bother me too much as I wonβt spend too long with them on my feet. π

And you won't be looking at them when they are on. Super shoes, enjoy them, I was tempted too but don't have a hamster or guinea pig or anything little really that needs a box as a bed π
Oh RunBrianRun , how could you? Now I have no excuse for not confessing I also just bought myself more shoes from the same place, on the same "last pair bargain price" basis.
I absolutely do not need those shoes. Nor do I need the all-over-reflective jacket that also jumped into my bag, then begged me to let its trail running jacket friend come along for the ride. I am a sucker for these sob stories, especially when accompanied by discounts of around 75%.
Only ordered yesterday afternoon Irishprincess , so am saving the happy dance (and photos) for when they arrive and fit!
The online size calculator suggested XL for the jackets and I'm a UK 8-10 depending on brand! π When I changed the numbers to underweight in BMI terms it still suggested M, so it's clearly insane. ππ€£
I fell out of love after the Kinvara 5. They narrowed the toe box so that was me done π. Iβm told the 13 is really good though, so when I can find a Β£28 one Iβll buy it π
I bought some cheap Triumph which was like a brick compared with the Kinvara. I barely wear them even for walking the dog π. My Speed version 1 was a sale bargain. Light, bouncy shoe π. I wonβt run another winter marathon in it though
Just back from a trial run and Iβm very happy with them. I thought Iβd include just some of the rest of the paraphernalia that goes with this particular form of running. π
To be fair, there is more there today as I was using my timing system. But even so itβs like packing for a short holiday whenever Iβm at the track. What are missing are my start blocks though. There was another pair of spikes in the bag too not to mention extra running clothes, freeze sprays and creams etc. π
ha I picked up a pair of crazy orange Hokas over the holidays too and they really stand out when Iβm wearing all black otherwise. They were only available in this colour. π
haha I also have an orange run jacket almost the same colour and feel quite coordinated with the combo. The hardest thing is keeping these relatively clean. Iβve changed routes once or twice to avoid the mud π
I love these π I have a similar colour in new balance but have had my eye on Hoka trainers, whatβs your verdict on them? I have wide feet by my toes.
I really like Hokas. I started using their Speedgoats for trail (cant beat em I think) and then Cliftons for road. This pair are the Carbon X3 which are super light and feel quick. I have around 100k on these so far. I think they come in wide sizing too. I purposely got a couple of sizes up based on black toes in the past and it works for me.
It depends on the weather and distance . In the cold I might wear a thicker pair but in the summer I stay with thin especially for longer runs where my feet will swell a bit by the end
