Treated myself to a new pair of shoes

Prompted by Β Β MissUnderstanding ’s post recently, (thank you MissU πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘), I decided I needed a new year treat. Sportshoes.com had a great offer and just one pair left in my size. I was left with little choice πŸ˜…

These are Nike Maxfly sprinting spikes which will help me go faster I hope. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜… Those spikes are vicious!

I’m not too enamoured with the colourway but that doesn’t bother me too much as I won’t spend too long with them on my feet. πŸ˜‚

Forget the shoes, what are you doing with the box? πŸ˜‰

Seriously, those look like exciting shoes to run in. Looking forward to reading about what you do in them. Wishing you many speedy miles together!

πŸ˜‚ Box can be donated to guinea pig sanctuary πŸ‘πŸ˜‚ Don’t Guinea pigs eat cardboard?

You are running in a different league altogether Brian. I only worry about the colour if I’m paying full price πŸ˜‚

RunBrianRun profile image
RunBrianRunHalf Marathonβ€’ in reply toDexy5

Absolutely Dexy. These were already in the sale and then a further 15% discount code brought them to almost half price.

And you won't be looking at them when they are on. Super shoes, enjoy them, I was tempted too but don't have a hamster or guinea pig or anything little really that needs a box as a bed πŸ˜€

Sola, you know what you have to do. Get a Guinea pig πŸ‘πŸ˜‚

The cat would eat it, but at the moment I have enough running shoes, mind you, we do the Christmas show boxappeal so I have to buy a fewa year

Xmas box appeal eh πŸ€” I’ve added that to my excuse list πŸ‘πŸ˜Ή

Oh RunBrianRun , how could you? Now I have no excuse for not confessing I also just bought myself more shoes from the same place, on the same "last pair bargain price" basis.

I absolutely do not need those shoes. Nor do I need the all-over-reflective jacket that also jumped into my bag, then begged me to let its trail running jacket friend come along for the ride. I am a sucker for these sob stories, especially when accompanied by discounts of around 75%.

Only ordered yesterday afternoon Irishprincess , so am saving the happy dance (and photos) for when they arrive and fit!

The online size calculator suggested XL for the jackets and I'm a UK 8-10 depending on brand! πŸ™„ When I changed the numbers to underweight in BMI terms it still suggested M, so it's clearly insane. 😜🀣

Nice! And less chance of spiking or being spiked when you run in your own lane!

Ooh, nice! I can’t believe you didn’t have any spikes though!

SportsShoes.com should come with a health warning, I got two pairs of Endorphin Speed 2s either side of Christmas because they were so well priced.

TC, I have 4 pairs now πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚πŸ˜πŸ˜‰

Seriously though the prices are just mad right now.

I have to hunt down bargains. Best one ever was a gleaming pair of Saucony Kinvara Β£28. That shoe was my most loved shoe ever πŸ₯°

I love your new Nikes! I don’t mind the colour. Who caresπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ You’ll be just a blur in em anyway πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸŒͺπŸ”₯

RunBrianRun profile image

Sock o knee are good shoes and get great reviews but I’ve never tried them. That was a solid bargain. πŸ‘

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathonβ€’ in reply toRunBrianRun

they are tough too! My Kinvara 5’s were my faves. Hardwearing soles but the tops not s’ much πŸ™‚. Apparently the 13’s are really good

They’re really light!

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserMarathonβ€’ in reply tomisswobble

I’ve heard that about the Kinvara, someone writing in this months Runners World wistfully wrote about them.

misswobble profile image
misswobbleMarathonβ€’ in reply toTailChaser

I fell out of love after the Kinvara 5. They narrowed the toe box so that was me done πŸ™. I’m told the 13 is really good though, so when I can find a Β£28 one I’ll buy it πŸ™‚

I bought some cheap Triumph which was like a brick compared with the Kinvara. I barely wear them even for walking the dog πŸ•. My Speed version 1 was a sale bargain. Light, bouncy shoe 😍. I won’t run another winter marathon in it though

Crikey, you have to remember a lot of stuff to take, but how many pairs of shoes? I can see 3 πŸ˜€

RunBrianRun profile image
RunBrianRunHalf Marathonβ€’ in reply toSueAppleRun

To be fair, there is more there today as I was using my timing system. But even so it’s like packing for a short holiday whenever I’m at the track. What are missing are my start blocks though. There was another pair of spikes in the bag too not to mention extra running clothes, freeze sprays and creams etc. πŸ˜‚

I love these 😍 I have a similar colour in new balance but have had my eye on Hoka trainers, what’s your verdict on them? I have wide feet by my toes.

Decker profile image
DeckerUltramarathonβ€’ in reply toDendev75

I really like Hokas. I started using their Speedgoats for trail (cant beat em I think) and then Cliftons for road. This pair are the Carbon X3 which are super light and feel quick. I have around 100k on these so far. I think they come in wide sizing too. I purposely got a couple of sizes up based on black toes in the past and it works for me.

Dendev75 profile image
Dendev75Half Marathonβ€’ in reply toDecker

Thanks that’s good to know, do you wear thick running socks too?

Decker profile image
DeckerUltramarathonβ€’ in reply toDendev75

It depends on the weather and distance . In the cold I might wear a thicker pair but in the summer I stay with thin especially for longer runs where my feet will swell a bit by the end
