Food Bank Run

Just as I’m working my way through the last of the mince pies, Christmas cake and turkey, I thought I would tell you about an initiative started by Fareham running club in Hampshire and assisted by my local independent online shop, runr.

The idea has snowballed and been adopted by running clubs around the country and I am now going to do a food collection at Southsea parkrun to add our contribution.

The idea is to get a group of people to run to a food bank with some contributions to help build up their stocks at this difficult time. In reality, I’m hoping we will also gather our parkrun food collection in a few cars .

That’s great David, of course it is open to individuals too but you’ll need to ensure that the food bank is going to be open for donations when you plan to run it.

Thanks for this Dexy. We have a core team meeting next Saturday so I’ll suggest it then. We have a food bank collection point in the centre of town which would be perfect. Good luck with your collections.
