I am sure many of you will remember the time the first named storm of the season arrived in October. It was the weekend when many running buddies were intending to meet until Storm Ashley ruined it all, and the Great South Run was cancelled for safety reasons.
But the Great organisers have been generous in allowing us to not only rollover our entries to 2025, but also to run the distance virtually to gain this year’s medal and T-shirt. We had one month to complete the run, and all goodies would be posted out at the same time.
UpTheStanley was first to receive his package and is proudly modelling the contents. He is less than proud of the time it took him to run it, despite the fact that he would have been the fastest amongst us, but I’m sure it would have been better on the day, accompanied by other runners and pacers.
Everyone else who took part is invited to add their pics when they receive their goodies.

Sleek and fit UTS! The post hadn’t been delivered when I left for this morning’s run (comeback run 4); 🤞🤞🤞🤞all the way home. I agree with you; the organisers did their best to make up for the cancellation; all Storm Ashley’s fault. Looking forward to seeing everybody’s victory photographs. Have a great day everyone.
Great photo of UpTheStanley , congratulations to him although he's a little disappointed on his time, not getting a sub whatsoever should not be a reason to be disappointed, he ran it and should be very proud of himself ✅🏅🏃
Thanks all 😀. But I was disappointed to have to walk a bit and jeff the last 3 miles. Perhaps because I seem to have expanded to XL size, which is a bit worrying. No idea what that makes the average Pompey person though!
A week later, my shirt and medal have arrived. It’s probably the colour I least like in my selection of race T-shirts, but it proves I ran 10 miles and I will be proud to wear it at the next parkrun.
It just had to be. My GSR shirt and medal arrived this afternoon in the middle of another storm hit weekend. Rain (two days of it forecast) 41 mph winds gusting to 55….this year’s run/ medal thing is jinxed! At least I enjoyed my“not” GSR run with a new PB. Food shopping to do now; waterproofs required!
Excellent Beachcomber66 and well done to you. We have had cancelled GSR due to storm Ashley, followed by 2 cancelled parkruns for Bert and Darragh. Not sure where storm C went, but it must have missed us.
