I've been bumbling along quite happily with a 10k run and 2 runs at 5k, more or less every week since the HU virtual HM which was 2 years ago now! (Can't believe it, how time flies). This week, a friend in our local Monday Runners group suggested entering the Liverpool 10 miles on 26th March 2023.
Yes, yes, I thought, a target is just what I need to wake me up and motivate me! The course is fairly flat too, after an initial incline. My only concern is that I am away from towards the end of Feb til mid March, leaving me just over a week for any final runs before the event.
The only event I've ever entered is the Chester 10k, which was just before lockdown. I'd love to take part in this and I've been up half the night working out if I could manage the training.
I've consulted my old HM training plan and I reckon I could be running 10 miles by mid-Feb, I could do a couple of 5ks each week for the 3 weeks I am away, then maybe one longer run of 10/12 or16k, when I am back on 16th March.
Does that sound reasonable, or would I be tailing off too early in mid Feb?
