A Sad Day.

This morning, I have to share with you, the incredibly sad news of the death of our dear friend and fellow runner, known to so, so many as IannodaTruffe, but whose name was, Tim.

Yesterday afternoon, at home, Tim died, peacefully and surrounded by his loving family.

There is a famous quotation, stating that, the good men do is lost with them when they die; this is not true for Tim.

Hugely respected and well loved, Tim has been a constant, reassuring presence on the forums and during his years here, his words have reached and touched the lives of hundreds of runners. His sound advice, his supportive comments, his calm approach to any question asked, has, quite literally, changed lives, changed them for the better.

Tim will not be forgotten, his good, will be carried in us, with us and be shared by us, for years to come.

We shall move forward, in the way that Tim encouraged us to, with the familiar words he used at the end of all his posts in our hearts, we shall indeed...

...Keep Running, keep smiling.

Oldfloss x

I do know that many of you will wish to comment or share your thoughts here. Please do. I shall, in due course, share all of those comments with Tim's family.

We have lost a wonderful man, our star of Couch to 5K! He would always speak his mind - da Truffe! - and I am so grateful to have known him as a colleague and friend.

Thank you for your inspiration, Tim. I certainly will keep running and smiling, and will remember you always xxx

The end of an era here.

Tim (or IT as I called him) was always around, giving wonderful support to so many new runners, urging nervous runners forwards with his wise words and reminding us all of the joys of running in nature’s beauty. He adored his Devon.

Courageous and supportive right to the end, he showed us all the meaning of commitment and dedication.

He will be missed every day xxx

What very sad news OF. What a gentleman he was. My next run will be dedicated to him, as without his guidance and sage advice at the start of C25K, who knows if I’d be running. ❤️

Tim played a huge part in helping new runners through all of the doubts and uncertainty which could otherwise have stopped their running journey before it really started. Many of us are fitter and healthier because of his advice and support. My thoughts are with Tim’s family; losing someone years before their time is so hard xx

Sincere condolences to Tim’s family on their loss.

May they find some comfort in knowing Tim’s immense contribution on here and that supported so many.

We are so fortunate that Tim found running late in life and shared his love and wisdom on here.

Tim’s legacy and pinned posts will continue to help so many to keep running and keep smiling.

It’s not really something to press ‘Like’ on but how else do you show appreciation on here for someone who has done so much for so many.

Tim replied to one of my first posts on here over 4.5 years ago. He’s been a mentor to so many of us, guiding us through those first weeks of C25k and he was with me in spirit when I ran London a month ago.

It’s the end of an era but he will be with all of us on how ever long our running journeys continue for. And also, what he has inspired us to do has helped us inspire others, if that’s not an incredible legacy I don’t know what is.

RIP Tim, you’re an HU legend 😢

Know what you mean about the ‘like’ button. Think you’ve shown your appreciation in your message.

Also, yes, an incredible legacy and a true legend.

Such sad news, although he was incredibly brave and inspirational in sharing his final journey with us all in his characteristic honest and humorous way. For so many of us Tim was the first person we encountered on the C25k forum and his advice was invaluable. I’m sure lots of us are still running due to what he advised us to do (and what he very definitely advised us against doing!)

RIP Tim, your legacy will live on and my sincerest condolences to your family xx

Such sad news indeed. Not only was Tim such a great and pragmatic support to so many of us here on HU, myself included, but he was principled, funny, inspirational and so very generous with both his knowledge and his time. Rarely does someone you have never met leave such a positive and lasting impression. I for one will keep running and keep smiling for just as long as I can, and Tim has played no small part in that. Sending love to his family, and grateful thanks for sharing him with us all. RIP Tim.

I am greatly saddened to hear this.

I can't add anything to what others have said, other than that he showed massive restraint when, after warning me of overdoing things in my final week of C25K, he didn't say "Told you so" when I got an ankle sprain.

😀 Happy memories of the man 🥰

Let’s keep running and do him proud 😀 I’m carrying him with me on today’s run 😪

Gosh, this is such sad news. As you so rightly point out Oldfloss , he has touched the lives of many here with his honest support and advice. I do hope you can pass our thoughts and condolences on to his family. He was clearly a very special man who will be much missed I am sure x

The memory of Tim will be forever with me. I remember we both felt that W6R2 was the toughest in the C25K program. Having that long recovery walk between intervals tricks you into thinking it will be easy .

But as always, go slow and steady... Keep running, keep smiling!

Thanks Tim, for all your words of wisdom and guidance given with kindness.

Even though we knew this was coming, and Tim did a wonderful job of preparing us, I am shocked and saddened, and my heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. I was particularly moved by his final post which was truly beautiful. Thank you for sharing him with us at this time.

His legacy will live on in this community for years to come. Like so many others here, I too have been fortunate enough to benefit from his wise words, and carry them with me to this day. I only wish I’d listened to them right at the start when I was pushing too far and too fast and hurt myself.

RIP Tim, my fellow runner, you will be missed ❤️X

So sad to hear this news, and I send my sincerest condolences to all Tim's family and friends. Tim's generosity of spirit was exceptional. His thoughtfulness and care for others came through in everything he posted.

While the world is a poorer place without him, I'll always remain grateful to Tim for all his advice, kindness and ceaseless encouragement.

Even though you're no longer physically with us, you'll never leave us, fellow runner. We'll keep running, keep smiling.

Although not entirely unexpected, it still comes as a shock to read this sad news. I suppose there’s always the feeling that the outcome might be some unexpected recovery.

With his patient replies and well researched posts, IT was, indeed, a huge help to so many of us on these forums. I sometimes thought that it would have been good to join him for a run through the Devon countryside.

I’ve just read his last post and, true to form, it’s a great reminder to just enjoy the moment whilst out there.
