Ran an HM back in the spring as part of my tapering for another event (probably my first “live” HM), fully chilled throughout.
This time, having done some targeted training for the Bath one, the nerves are starting to build. Guess it might be due to the hassle of trying to arrange transport. Getting home is easy; it’s the getting there before the start that’s a bit tricky! Hopefully, I’ll calm down now that I’ve figured out how to get there.

The logistics really are the worst thing about the big events aren't they. Trying to time travel, eating and loo visits ... when you've no idea what traffic will be like or how busy it will be ... the stuff of nightmares for me. Once over the start line though ... you've got this. Have a good one 👍😊
We want a full and detailed report SM. You’ll absolutely smash it, I have no doubt about that, and I’d love to run it one year. Apparently it’ll be returning to March in 2024! 😀🙏🏻
I’m so glad for your sake that it’s actually going ahead at long last. Have a blast! 🏃♂️ 💪 👊 🏅
I’m travelling from home! It’s so close that, last year, I ran from home to about a mile outside Bath (although there’s no way I could do that then go on to get a PB in the event). Getting a train ticket from Bristol to Bath was easy, it’s getting a bus from Frampton into Bristol that’s the problem. There aren’t any busses from here early enough in the morning. Mrs Monday won’t drive into town so I’m getting a bus from Bristol Parkway to Temple Meads (that route isn’t covered by a train at that time in the morning) and she’s giving me a lift to Parkway. So, three different forms of transport. Still, it looks like a viable plan (with contingency if something doesn’t turn up).
I feel your pain. I took two days off prior to the London Marathon weekend. One was to attend the Expo and do a recce of where we were staying, where we could eat, etc. The other was purely to get my stuff together. It’s not just the running kit, it’s all the ‘helpful’ bits and pieces.
I bet you’ll be fine though, you’ll definitely be 10x more organised than the Bath Half organisers!!! (Not that I’m bitter or anything…🤪). Go smash it SM!! 👊
It has taken one heck of a long time for this event to settle! Originally, I was going to be a spectator because I wasn’t running. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then!
The travel plans are stressful aren't they SM! I paid to use the designated car park at Cardiff just because I wasn't confident enough to drive and see where to park on day although most carparks were free as it was Sunday 🙄 I'm glad you are sorted now though. Good luck and enjoy it!
Used the event park & ride when I ran in Newport a year ago. Can’t remember now but I think it cost a few quid. Still, it’s one less thing to think about on the day.
