My dilemma leading up to the Paddock Wood HM on Sunday was whether to go for a PB or run with my friend who's returning to full fitness and aiming for 2hrs.
I didn't decide until we were in the cattle crush leading up to the start and we were conveniently located between the 1:40 and 1:50 pacers....so I "went for it"!!
Shiny new PB of chip time 1:40:46. Struggled a bit around 8 miles and 11 miles but pig headed determination pushed me through. Exhausted but happy. Now time to hang up my PB chasing shoes at 55yrs old.

Brilliant run LL. π I am not sure that you will hang up your PB chasing shoes! Instinct may kick in on race day. I managed a 10 mile pb last year at age 71β¦. Starting to run at age 66 helped π. Your HM pb is a bit quicker than my 10 miles though. Whatever you decide, just enjoy yourself.
I'm pacing 26 mins at parkrun on Saturday, which will feel SO comfy! I am blessed to be injury and ailment free so far. Well, nothing that stops me running, at least.
Wow, that's really going for it!!! Congratulations on a mind blowing time LL. I can only imagine the effort and determination that that must have taken.
But hang up your PB shoes? Hmmmm ... we'll see π
Wow, that's really fast. You must be so pleased you did "go for it". Would being sandwiched between 1:30 and 1:40 pacers tempt you into another wing heeled flyer?
