Hi IP, I wonβt add all the names as Iβm sure to miss one or more, but I and a veritable herd of other HUers are running the Great South Run on October 16th. Iβm sure theyβll all pop up so you can add their names to the pom-pom list! π₯³
Thanks IPβ¦β¦(I typed IC !!) π€π€π€ for this one. I tried the Pilates yesterday. Chilled physically and mentally afterwards. I was the only bloke there! It was ok though, no body seemed to mind; everybody in their own zones really. I checked safari to make sure that blokes have a pelvic floor when I got home. π
There was a lone chap in my Pilates class a few years ago. He was a runner too so we were always chatting at the back of the class and whispering π We were all there for a reason so nobody batted an eyelid.
In fact our neighbour, who is a doctor, has just started Pilates and he says even after one session his back feels so much better. Heady stuff this Pilates πͺ
I did. It was well led. Any notions of being expected to achieve exercises which were beyond my capabilities were soon dispelled. It was all very much, try this, donβt push it, just trying will do you good and you will be able to more in time. So there was no pass/fail. Nobody was singled out to have faults corrected. A bit like running really; try to push your boundaries a bit, but slow runs do you a lot of good anyway. I plan to go back next week π
Hi Irishprincess and everyone, I have a three quarter marathon (my second one ever, first three weeks ago) next Sunday in Ballybofey County Donegal, which may well be my last running event of the year.
I have a 10 mile run tomorrow the "Sligo Coast to Coast", which goes from Strandhill to Rosses Point.
I'm also off this week and traveling with my wife to Spain for a small break so I will have to bring some running gear for a few tapered runs.
A constellation or galaxy might be a bit grand! A murmuration excitement, mischief and riot may all be applicable as the pre run evening progresses! π
Hiya IP, apart from the obvious little tour of London next Sunday, I really am a glutton for punishment next month.
So there is also the GSR on the 16th and the following week (23rd) Katnap and I will both be starting to make our way through the Winter Series again, going up and down that blinkinβ big hill with the transmitter on top of it again. Why did I sign up for it again??? It really is a nice hoody thoughβ¦

You are the ultimate running keener TC! Iβd be firmly ensconced on the sofa for days and days (heck, letβs call that weeks) if I ever ran a marathon (which, by the way, you will absolutely smash!), but instead youβre out and about running yet more races! Canβt wait to read your LM race report, and hear about it personally at our mammoth GSR meetup. π₯³π₯³π₯³
GSR recovery run cheeky π€£ Actually they do recommend having something booked to look forward to after London because the come down can be pretty bad, so itβs worked out pretty well really. Shake-and-run and I also have something fairly potty lined up for November as well but Iβll update you when we meet up!
Good grief! So, you're not taking a rest after the London Marathon TC!!! Mind you, once you cross that fnish line in London youβll feel you can do anything πͺ
I know, itβs a bit bonkers but GSR was booked way before London turned up and so I may as well finish myself off with the Winter Series! π΄π΄π΄
A jam packed October for me. Next week Iβm volunteering at the London Marathon with my running club (Lucozade at Mile 15 anyone?). Iβm a member of the GSR crazy gang on 16th, then Venice 10k on 23rd and finally my home 10k in Lincoln on 30th. Praying for fine weather for that one, as we had a monsoon last year. I think Iβll need a lie down after that little lot!

It just seemed to happen somehow, but I only wanted to do events that are a bit special. Topping it off with cheekychipmunks 100th parkrun across the Severn Bridge (but thatβs for November!). I am really excited about London - all the atmosphere and none of the pain ππ
It's time for my annual HM! I never enter more than one per year. As the Big Half fell just after a 2 week holiday in Orlando I thought it wise to pick a different one so I'm doing my local event, Maidstone, on Sunday 16 October:

Munich for the half marathon on 9th October. Flattish course ending in the Olympic stadium which sounds cool. The course map says beer at the 15k mark! I checked and it's true - sensibly it's alcohol free beer. Not sure whether beer is a good hydration option ... but when in Munich do as the Munichers do ...?
Second HM for me (tottered round GNR a couple of weeks ago) so looking to improve a bit and apply so learnings from that. Feeling ... optimistic ... which is a nice change and I daresay will be replaced by "I must be mad!" type feelings later - but let's live in the moment π
I have happy memories of the beer festival there but in those days there was no such thing as alcohol-free beer!

Itβs been on the plan for a long time, may not have trained as much as I should have, but considering I did a 50miler 6months ago, I think I may be ok, this is only 38. π€£
Iβm running the Bath HM in a week or soβs time. I suspect that you already have details of the event! Havenβt received a race pack yet but the charity Iβm running with seem to think that everythingβs set up!
Hoping to break through the two hour barrier! My pace has definitely improved, itβs just a case of can I hold it over the distance?
Plan is to take it easy over the first k then aim to hold target pace and maybe give it some extra near the end (if Iβve anything left in the tank by then).
I was at a wedding last week and was seated next to a runner (we did have a fab time!) Heβs done the Rome Marathon and said it was brilliant. Talked me through each landmark. Maybe one dayβ¦.. π
