Hi everyone, Iโ€™m so pleased to report that I ran 30.12 km (18.7 miles) this morning with friends from my running club. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Fortunately we set off at 6:30am as it was very warm towards the end.๐Ÿฅต We all felt very tired but we enjoyed each otherโ€™s company, which is what itโ€™s all about!๐Ÿ‘

Iโ€™m not sure yet whether Iโ€™ll do another long run. I now feel relatively confident Iโ€™ll manage the marathon distance on the big day - just 5 weeks away! ๐Ÿ˜ณ The last thing I want is to pick up an injury after all the hard work Iโ€™ve put in ๐Ÿ˜Š

I wish you good luck David_G for your virtual London Marathon in 5 weeks, that was a very good early morning 18.7 miles run you had with your running friends, gives you great confidence for that marathon ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพ.

Thanks AlMorr Iโ€™ve got the Littlehampton 10K next Sunday. Iโ€™ll decide after that whether or not Iโ€™m doing another long run!

Well done, I think the name for easing up before or a long run is called tapering, before a long run like a HM or marathon runners go for short runs, no more than 10K before the big run.

Thanks AlMorr yes, thatโ€™s it! I just need to decide whether I start tapering now or in two weeks time. Iโ€™ve got until Sunday 11 September to decide, so no rush. It will depend how I feel after next Sundayโ€™s outing ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

Hi Dexy5 yes, itโ€™s 26.2 km. I should have continued a couple of weeks ago when I got up to 25.5 km!

I canโ€™t even think about what that feels like David. 10 miles was definitely enough for me! Very well done to you. Yes a very good idea to get out early.

Thanks Dexy5 I continue to surprise myself with these long runs. It wouldnโ€™t be happening if I hadnโ€™t signed up for the virtual London Marathon in a moment of madness ๐Ÿคฃ but now itโ€™s happening Iโ€™m very pleased I did! Two of my running club friends are also signed up for the virtual version, so hopefully weโ€™ll run together ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿคž

Well done! A really good confidence booster. Erring on the side of caution may well be wise but you will know as time goes by ๐Ÿ˜Š
