An expensive mistake πŸ˜–

Not been having a great time this last few weeks 😳

Bought new trainers , but after s few runs they definitely don't suit my running, tried all different lacing technique's to no avail,

All had been going well, training back up for a HM at end of next month..

Had a nasty cold all week and just got my first run of the week in this morning 😳

Got to 8K and gave up.. fed up stopping every 2k to de numb my foot..

Disappointed in such a short run I passed home and changed into my old Brooks and went on to do another 4K without any numbness..

So it's definitely the new ASICS.. messaged the shop to see if I could exchange or refund..but sadly no..

So I've just been online and bought another pair of Brooks glycerine same but different colours.. an expensive couple of weeks 😳

Might see if I can sell the ASICS, anyone want a bargain 🀣 size 8 worn for less than 50 K

Anyway new ones coming on Tuesday, can't wait!!!

Happy Running all πŸ™ŒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒ

That's a shame but better that than ending up with an injury! You should be able to make some of it back on eBay 🀞

Yes definitely Beatlesforever , I had wondered if I just needed more time to adjust, but I could feel my lower leg starting to ache from it..

That made my mind up πŸ˜„

I know, I won't be using them again 😳But I'm glad I should be sorted by Tuesday πŸ™

Exactly! They should realise they will loose a customer and do their best to keep you!.

Hope you can get something back for them 🀞

Glad that you seem to be back on track.

Hope you get a decent price for the Asics.

You've made the right decjsion and hopefully everything will soon be back on track. The shop however have very much let you down! I wonder if it's worth a call to Asics? I'm not sure what their policy is on unsuitable shoes. If not, good luck selling them on and here's to many happy runs in the Brooks!

Yes Linda, the last thing I want is an injury, running means to much to mess around for too long .. I will just have a frugal month 🀣

Shoes are funny things. My fave brands in terms of design, Adidas and Nike, do nothing to my feet, irrespective of price. Brooks? I only buy walking shoes from them. My perfect shoes, the ones that suit my long flat feet are - Asics with customised insoles. I’ve got a pair for shorter distances, I’ve got a different pair for long runs. Nothing but comfort and stability. I guess it’s all coming down to advice that we get during gait analysis and in my case they were spot on. Hopefully your next pair will be the right one. πŸ‘

sparky66 profile image
sparky66Half Marathon in reply to mrrun

I never thought of trying an insole πŸ€”

mrrun profile image
mrrunUltramarathon in reply to sparky66

The first thing they figured out that I needed, my feet are as flat as they can be. I ran without insoles and with different shoes which caused me all sorts of issues, knee and ankle. As the feet weren’t aligned neither were the hips, hence added pressure on one of the knees which simply went further onto the ankle. They took the mould, made the insoles that fitted perfectly both the shoes and my feet and there you go, I’ve run like a gazelle ever since (sort of). Why Asics? Out of 5 brands and their different models Asics and New Balance were the only ones that did the perfect job but I preferred Asics’ design.

Interesting! I have flat feet... or should I say had flat feet, due to hypermobility.

I had insoles for about thirty years. Then I switched to minimalist shoes ten years ago.

Having arch support or a raised heel in a shoe feels very odd to me now.

The only thing I didn't get in eight years of walking in toed shoes was the increased ankle stability that I had to work on after doing C25K and getting an ankle sprain on my graduation run.

I can (and occasionally do) run totally barefoot, and have the calluses to prove it!

sparky66 profile image
sparky66Half Marathon in reply to mrrun

Well I've ran for 16months with no problems in Brook's.. tried New balance but instep to high for me.. I'm glad you found what suits you..

I’m sorry the ASICS have caused you such trouble, sparky66. I bought some as they were on sales but, even though I purchased a size 7 which is what I wear in running shoes, they were two small 😳. Managed to get a refund and went back to my Brooks πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ. Happy feet! Hopefully the numbness you’ve experienced will stay away🀞.

I’ll swap you a pair of Hokas size 6! They are the devils own shoes 🀣. Hopefully the new ones will suit you a lot better, and I reckon you won’t have lost too much fitness Sparky in the meantime 😊.

Haha I tried a pair of those Hokas, what's that sole all about 🀣Ooh Frenc I now have an ear infection..

Only managed one workout last week, felt better yesterday done an 8 then a 4 K after stopping by home and changing trainers..

Now I'm layed back up in bed feeling sorry for myself πŸ™„

If I'm not back to fitness real soon ,I don't see me having enough time to reach our planned HM πŸ˜–

Oh poor you 😟, the most important thing is you get better - the roads and trails aren’t going anywhere! So don’t stress about a thing, just concentrate on yourself. Also your legs are probably doing magic things while you rest, busy doing whatever it is legs do when we give them a bit of a break 😊. I hope your ear’s not too painful. When I had covid I watched a few running films, don’t remember the names now, but there’s a few on Amazon Prime if you have it. They were very inspirational. Feel better 😽😊.

Gaviota 3 extra wide. I even pimped them up with some expensive insoles but alas no good 😌.

My running shop didn’t allow for exchanges or a refund either on the Brooks I bought even though Brooks allow returns. It has put me off gait analysis πŸ˜”

Don't blame you RunWillie 😳I take it it's a lot of trial and error...

I mean how do we know till we've run a few runs how they will suit..

They should have a discounted refund even, πŸ™„

My Brooks Ghost 14s make my right foot numb. I have to lace that one so loosely but if I’m running for longer and my feet swell it still goes numb. I figure it’s my larger foot. It’s definitely pressure on part of my foot that is causing it because the numbness fades when I run downhill πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈIt’s improved tho as the shoes have stretched. I love Brooks but probably won’t have any more of these.

sparky66 profile image
sparky66Half Marathon in reply to Frizzbomb67

Ooh it's a massive learning curve isn't it 🀣 Glad they improved for you ☺️

I will probably keep a hold of the ASICS and use them for shorter runs see if the stretch out a bit so I have a couple of pairs to alternate πŸ‘

Thanks Fizzbomb67 ☺️
