I'm looking for reassurance and/or advice about my recent order of some Hoka One Ones (Bondi 4). It is practically impossible to find anything other than Asics, Nike and Adidas here. Although I find the odd pair of Brooks, they don't stock the half sizes, so it's a no goer. I have big feet, which doesn't help either - all the women's models are too small, so I end up buying men's shoes.
My Asics Gel pulses have lost their limited bounce and the uppers are getting holes all over the place, so I have ordered a pair of Hoka's online. I've ordered a slightly larger size than my Asics as I've been told that Hoka's size small. I'm also a little anxious about the thickness of the sole. Whilst I wait for the moment of truth on delivery, can anyone share their experience with these shoes?

I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm lucky I don't like the colour pink when I'm looking for shoes...My Asics are a size 44.5. The sizes appear to vary amongst brands, and even between models of the same brand, so it's a real game of poker. Hoka do very strange sizes with thirds rather than halves - I've ordered 44 2/3 and am crossing everything I have two of.
As Miss Wobble says @aliboo70 runs in Hoka - and her brother. Unfortunately she's not on this board. Try posting on the 10k board as she is on that one. (Personally the sole has put me off them so will be interested to see what you make of them.
PS. The sole had me stumped for a while, but from what I understand the foot is actually lower in the shoe than it appears from the outside because of the deepness of the cushioning.
I've got Bondi 5s at the mo, had 2 pairs of Cliftons before then! I know loads of runners who have them here on the iow and love them! They are a bit space age in appearance but you get used to it and the thick soles! I really like mine and never had any probs with rubbing or blisters from them . I got a 7 for my size 6 ish feet! 😊
I'm crossing my fingers that they fit, I can't wait to try them. I'm guessing that they are good on surfaces that are more challenging, without being trail running, if they are favorites on the IOW?
I got the Bondi model cos I seemed to wear my cliftons down in a couple of spots so my running shop friend Simon reccomended trying these. We had the hoka rep (local top athlete) at our run club the other week with loads of pairs of them for people to try for the run, so I tried aother different model too. Can't remember which, it began with an A though!! They were good too. The rep said the Bondi should last me better and they have a heavier tread too! I'm over 200km on them already and look hardly work down😊
Yippeeee! I'm looking forward to trying them, but I'm going to have to wait, they won't be posted before the 9th Nov at the earliest I'm no good at being patient, much to my teenagers' amusement.
I was put off by the price, but for some reason they are coming up at half price on some websites over here. The Bondis were 69 euros instead of 140 - so I thought I might as well give them a try.
