Easter Sunday bonus

I was meant to do a 9k today and as I have grown children and grandchildren staying and more to arrive later I set off early, 6.15 ish. Clear bright morning but I had to scrape ice from the windscreen, temp showing 1'c. Still, I was in shorts as I knew it would be warmer by the sea...it was 5'c.... Started on my rungo 9k and having boasted to the family last night that I'd only had one fall in nearly 2 years of running, didn't I fall splat over a root at 6k in.....picked myself up, dusted myself down and carried on. Then I thought, perhaps my knee will start hurting like it did after last year's fall during my 10miles, so I decided to do the 10 this week and the 9 next week...on my 71St birthday....at the end I had my first 20 strokes in the sea....temp of water is currently 8'c. All in all an excellent start to the day. Now...several hours later plus several glasses of bubbles later my knees are fine.🤣

Well done Mormor. Where are you about to be scraping the ice from windscreen. Are u abroad? Hope your knees are ok tomorrow? After a few glass of bubbles no wonder your knees feel better, I would be falling over if I had a few glasses of bubbles. Hectic day for you with all your family. Hope you have a lovely Easter 🐣

Thanks Doris8. I'm in Suffolk, 2 Mikes from the sea but in a little frost pocket! It was a hectic day but we could be in the garden all day while h does reduce the pressure of everyone indoors. Happy Easter to you.

Ooh what a full day! Good to hear you didn't pick up an injury 😊

No injury bar a scraped arm and knees....it's a pineneedle track so relatively soft underfoot.

I love those! I seek them out as they’re so much easier on old bones and sore feet 😀

Very bracing tho only 20strokes. Was v impressed by my daughter in law who went in later and stayed in about 10minutes!

I’m so tempted and it’s probably a little warmer here, little grandchildren went in a few weeks ago, got to the beach on a sunny day stripped off and in they splashed

My friend was swimming in the north sea through winter She’s as skinny as a stick of macaroni too. Shudder 🥶 she’s new too it, having paddle boarded first.

Filey Bay is the warmest sea I’ve ever swum in in the U.K.

I've swum in filey, wonder why it's warmer? Scarboro. is cold

Warmer water in the bay as maybe the cliffs that envelop it protect it from sea breezes Don’t know, just guessing ☺️

Scarborough is 🥶. I”ve spent some happy hours there 🏊‍♀️

Love the walk from Files to Scarborough too.

I don’t think I’ve done it🤔. May have done as my mum used to walk our legs off on holidays there. My brother had a pot on his leg when we holidayed in Filey, but we ended up traipsing round Scarborough. He was on crutches ! His pot unravelled and the rocker came adrift 😁. The staff at Butlins did a great job putting it back together 😀. Happy days

I missed this!!!! You already did your 10.... !!!!!HUGE congratulations!

Your fall sounds not nice at all... ouch, but you recovered well after a bubbly libation.

I don't suppose you will want to join me in a bubbly celebration then ? :)

Very well done you... and the 9K to look forward to on your birthday!

Haha, I'll never say no to more bubbles🍾🍾🍾...I had to go for it in case of repercussions from fall. But all is fine. Goodluck with yours.
