Hurrah I finally tested a big fat negative after covid this morning. What a relief. So feeling pretty ok I decided to test my running legs. I’m not going to lie, after 5 days of covid, and 6 days since I last ran, I really wasn’t looking forward to how it might feel, but I decided if I needed to walk or stop, then I would. I felt quite emotional during my warm up walk because we are so lucky to have been vaccinated, and I hope others with covid get better soon.

I set out really slowly, my 10 mile pace, and it stood me in good stead. It felt so good to be out in the fresh air, even though the wind was not on my side πŸ˜€. My breathing felt good, although my legs complained a bit, but after sitting on my backside for nearly a week, that’s to be expected. Everything looked sharper and brighter and it was just wonderful. This was probably the slowest 5k I’ve ever done, but I’ll take it.

I hope everyone has a smashing day 😊😊😊.

Well done!

I still tested strongly positive yesterday morning. However, I'm feeling lots better, but still coughing a bit. I think my body's in the "mop and bucket" phase.

The weather here is lousy at the moment (windy and rainy). My plan is to get out and do a walk tomorrow morning to see how I feel.

My plans this weekend do have some running, but not parkrun. A hard 5km is not what I need at the moment. (And I don't trust myself to do it slowly.)

I have strong suspicions that the 10km run I did this time last week stressed my body just sufficiently that the virus was able to get a foot in.

Sorry to hear you’re still positive, but it sounds as though you’re definitely on the home stretch now 😊. I know what you mean about the pre covid run, mine felt really hard and probably didn’t help! You’ll know in yourself when you’re able to run again, and I should think you’ll be negative by the weekend - today was actually the first day I felt like running even though it was definitely more of a pootle than a record breaker! Hope the mop and bucket phase does its job.

Thank you Ian! It’s great to be back 😊. I shall heed your advice and take it gently. Going to take 2 days rest now, and hopefully the weather will be ok on Sunday. πŸ˜€

Oh how wonderful! There's certainly plenty of fresh air about today!!! Nothing like having your running taken away for a while to make you really appreciate it again. Good to hear you've recovered so quickly and so well.

Thank you so much Linda. I really was dreading it - you know when your head thinks you can, but does your body get the memo. I feel very lucky if I’m honest. 😊

Thank you OF! It felt so good. I agree about the peskiness, so am definitely keeping an eye on it. Mind you, it’s going to be hard having to get up at a normal hour and go to work next week. What with a week’s holiday then a week off sick, I’ve got used to lounging under my duvet 🀣.

That will be hard!!! But good to know you're feeling more yourself xxx

So good to know you are back out running, I love your probably the slowest 5k ever, it’s 30 seconds faster than my fastest 5k ever πŸ˜‚Covid is a horrible virus but having had it you will have boosted your immunity at least for a time πŸ˜€

Thank you so much 😊. One good thing is that I’ve had more time to read posts on this forum rather than quickly scan through, which has been nice. I hope you are feeling well and getting out there. 😊
