Hurrah I finally tested a big fat negative after covid this morning. What a relief. So feeling pretty ok I decided to test my running legs. Iβm not going to lie, after 5 days of covid, and 6 days since I last ran, I really wasnβt looking forward to how it might feel, but I decided if I needed to walk or stop, then I would. I felt quite emotional during my warm up walk because we are so lucky to have been vaccinated, and I hope others with covid get better soon.
I set out really slowly, my 10 mile pace, and it stood me in good stead. It felt so good to be out in the fresh air, even though the wind was not on my side π. My breathing felt good, although my legs complained a bit, but after sitting on my backside for nearly a week, thatβs to be expected. Everything looked sharper and brighter and it was just wonderful. This was probably the slowest 5k Iβve ever done, but Iβll take it.
I hope everyone has a smashing day πππ.

I still tested strongly positive yesterday morning. However, I'm feeling lots better, but still coughing a bit. I think my body's in the "mop and bucket" phase.
The weather here is lousy at the moment (windy and rainy). My plan is to get out and do a walk tomorrow morning to see how I feel.
My plans this weekend do have some running, but not parkrun. A hard 5km is not what I need at the moment. (And I don't trust myself to do it slowly.)
I have strong suspicions that the 10km run I did this time last week stressed my body just sufficiently that the virus was able to get a foot in.
Sorry to hear youβre still positive, but it sounds as though youβre definitely on the home stretch now π. I know what you mean about the pre covid run, mine felt really hard and probably didnβt help! Youβll know in yourself when youβre able to run again, and I should think youβll be negative by the weekend - today was actually the first day I felt like running even though it was definitely more of a pootle than a record breaker! Hope the mop and bucket phase does its job.
Thank you Ian! Itβs great to be back π. I shall heed your advice and take it gently. Going to take 2 days rest now, and hopefully the weather will be ok on Sunday. π
Oh how wonderful! There's certainly plenty of fresh air about today!!! Nothing like having your running taken away for a while to make you really appreciate it again. Good to hear you've recovered so quickly and so well.
Thank you so much Linda. I really was dreading it - you know when your head thinks you can, but does your body get the memo. I feel very lucky if Iβm honest. π
Thank you so much Sparky! Yes, it felt SO good. And thank you for your wise words yesterday about listening to my body. I was really happy with the run all things considered. Now onwards and upwards! πππ
Well done you sound so delighted to be back & well enough to run againπ. Lovely post ...sometimes the pace is just not important at all and the pleasure of the run gives us so much more π
Hooray!! Out there again...I bet that Spring air felt so good... the strong winds stopped me yesterday!Well done you... a great first run back! Take it steady though.. this pesky Covid is a sneaky little divil! x
Thank you OF! It felt so good. I agree about the peskiness, so am definitely keeping an eye on it. Mind you, itβs going to be hard having to get up at a normal hour and go to work next week. What with a weekβs holiday then a week off sick, Iβve got used to lounging under my duvet π€£.
Thank you Dexy (my predictive text just swapped the D in Dexy for an S, so had to quickly change that π€£). Itβs so nice to be pretty much back to normal, whatever that is! π
So good to know you are back out running, I love your probably the slowest 5k ever, itβs 30 seconds faster than my fastest 5k ever πCovid is a horrible virus but having had it you will have boosted your immunity at least for a time π
Thank you so much π. One good thing is that Iβve had more time to read posts on this forum rather than quickly scan through, which has been nice. I hope you are feeling well and getting out there. π
Health is still challenging me but will get there, iβve found having more time I not only read more but my replies are getting longer and longer lol π
