Nether regions!!!

I am gradually upping my distance. Last week I hit 30k, the second longest weekly total only beaten in a week when I did a HM.

I have for the first time had some really bad chafing. I have tried different styles of underwear but the results are pretty inconsistent. What works once does not necessarily work next time.

Can uou share your experiences or solutions please.

I chafe badly!🙁.

Wearing as little as possible works best. I turn my tops inside out so the seams don’t chafe my inner arms. Wearing no underwear ☺️ Shorts are best for me rather than leggings

Bodyglide didn’t work for me but then neither did anything else, eg Vaseline, liquidtalc etc

I have ordered “seamfree” clothing but it invariably isn’t 😤. Gymshark looks to have possibilities though

I had a pair of Decathlon boxer but they made my thighs rub where they finished but elsewhere was fine. I wore lined shorts over the top, the lining went lower then the end of the boxer so that cured that BUT then I had an issue higher up with a seam. I now have a painful 3 inch seam mark.

There's a real problem if something is a tad tight, or a tad loose. I lost too much weight for my trusty shorts and had to size down or suffer. I still use them for short runs ok.

Seams! That’s the bugbear. My fave shorts are decathlon Evadict trail ones worn with no underwear

I wonder sometimes at the thread they use It’s like cheese-wire! 🤨

Roll on warmer weather 🙂.

You could try cutting the fabric at the chafe points if it’s not detrimental

Or Happy Bottom Bum Butter (you can use it everywhere and it's all natural)

I have one or two fave outfits that tend to work well so just wear that stuff all the time. Then I panic when it wears out! 🤣 even then there's always a risk. I got some nasty chafe on my 1st 50k but it wasn't aware of it until my hot bath after.

Ooooh! The sting of the shower yesterday! "Happy Bottom Bum Butter" I could imagine that would cause a panic if it fell out of my gym bag!

I don't really have this problem, but slightly longer shorts/underwear do seem best in wet weather. I wonder if seamless sports underwear is a thing?

I don't have this problem, but decathlon.co.uk/p/kalenji-m... holds me very firmly and hasn't chafed me.

The trick is to have longer underwear close to the skin under the shorts, and the shorts being of something non-abrasive.

Just a warning: they have a very firm hold on your bits. I go through puberty again every time I take them off. 😆

Getting some good input thanks. How about treatment though? I am not sure whether to go along the lines of moisture (sudocrem/savlon) or dry Medicated Talc.

I don't usually have this issue but bodyglide seems to be the preferred treatment from those I know

Did my Feb half yesterday. Had a strong headwind on 1 leg of the 7kloop I use. This dried up the sweat but left the salt. Thanks to vaseline my nethers were largely ok. I had a little underarm from the salt but all good really.

Interesting. We don't often get dry heat like that in the UK.

It was not particularly warm, abt 12 degrees, just a dry wind which dried the sweat off.
