Hello everyone! I havenβt posted for a bit as life has got in the way, but Iβve still been getting out there and plodding along. Anyway, suffice to say that Iβve just got back from such a lovely run, the weather was perfect, and all is so much better with the world π π.
Itβs a newish and favourite route which enables me to see for miles across hedgerows, peek up hills, and view distant trees all under a bright blue sky. Itβs not the easiest of routes but the sense of open space is priceless. I saw lots of cyclists who all nodded hello, zooming along in a flash of bright Lycra.
I had to laugh as I got overtaken by a little man who was about my height (5β 3β). He was seriously listing to one side, but he still managed to be going much faster. Mind you, his calves were incredibly big and muscly so I imagine he was getting a lot of power from them.
Anyway, itβs good to be back, and I very much hope everyone is having a smashing day πππ.

We must have been running together Frenc as Iβve just posted about my run today too and it seems we thought the same! Wasnβt it just gorgeous running weather?
π this made me smile Frenc β¦listing to one side with big calvesβ¦!!! I never do the overtaking, itβs always me being over taken, doesnβt matter how big, small or listing, the only time i do any overtaking is at parkrun, which Iβm not a big fan ofβ¦but Iβm running comfortably for me and thatβs all that matters. Your new route sounds very nice, a change of scenery is always a good thingβ¦
Glad to have you back & hear youβre still enjoying your running
Another brilliant run! It was a great day to be out, wasn't it? Everyone seemed to be smiling. Your route looks absolutely awesome. I really enjoyed that NRC '8-mile Run'. It was the last all-run long run I managed on their HM training plan before I was injured-ill. I actually reached my target (10 miles) today, but did that 'naked' so that I could accommodate run-walk. Hopefully, I'll be able to resume the original plan in the coming weeks.β¨β¨πβ¨β¨
Well done GailXRunning for adding on to that 8 miles! I had half hoped to do the same, but I sort of ran out of route (thatβs my excuse anyway). It was such a glorious day wasnβt it. ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
Fantastic day! I do know that feeling of running out of route. I've been caught out a few times (Strava mapping seems to overestimate distances) and then have to make up the distance by running back-and-forth along a/the street, which feels somewhat anti-climactic and doesn't exactly do much for my spirit. Truth be told, today, in part, I overcompensated for this problem. I went further away from home than I should have. I either had to walk a long stretch back or stick with the run-walk: once faced with that choice, it was a no-brainer! Hey-ho! Whatever it takes!
Yes indeed, whatever it takes π. You explained it brilliantly, I didnβt feel like running back and forth like a mad thing to to that extra bit. Iβll plan it a bit better next time.
Nice one! I find it interesting looking at other runners gaits. Some are really obviously powerful with long legs and minimum weight, others, like this one, don't seem to chime with what we think is needed for performance. ππ»π
Nice to see you back Frenc π good to know you're still out there and enjoying your running, how could you not with such a beautiful route πLovely photos π
Not long in from my 10K , weather was a bit blah but enjoyed the run πββοΈπ₯
Hello Sparky! Yes, Iβm back - never really went anywhere but just had a mini forum break I guess. Well done on your 10k, itβs not so nice today is it, sort of flat and grey. But Iβm sure you donβt feel that way, bet youβre full of beans now π€£!
