A week later than the main event (when I ran a virtual 10k), today was the day I’d earmarked for the virtual half. The conditions we’re great, cool with lots of autumnal sunshine. I’d carefully planned a familiar local route in north Edinburgh, but going a slightly different way than normal to keep things interesting. My hydration and fuelling strategy was worked out and worked well, though carrying sticky energy gel packets until I found a bin was a bit grim. The achilles tendon trouble I’d picked up in October didn’t cause me any issues. Phew. Though a tightening hamstring in the last 5k seems to be fairly common for me. Need to keep an eye on this and make sure I’m doing those stretches. My time (1:57:38) wasn’t my main concern today given fitness levels and minor niggles. But pleased with this effort.

A fabulous run! So glad the niggles mostly kept quiet for you today. Those sticky gels are awful though!!! Will add you to the results.
