The running christmas tree

Hiya,

As I run on weekdays after work, it is already getting a bit dusky when I run. Because part of my route is on a bike path between a dark forest and a speedy and busy car road, I thought to make myself more visible.

Plan succeeded I think? A red light on my arm, 4 white lights on my chest and 4 red lights on my back. And they can either be on or flickering. A true running christmas tree if I say so.

I think in combination with my hydration vest, I am thé most overdressed runner in the neighbourhood. All other runners that I see are dressed in sweatpants and a shirt.

Just did a 5K (43 mins) in this gear. Though I did not turn on all the lights all the time. It is not dusky enough for that yet.

Cheers, Evy

Good on you Evy, that looks very impressive, you must be getting a lot of attention from other runners and anyone else who sees you

Ehm yes, I did see 2 people smile as I passed them. Don't know if it was a kind smile or the start of laughter though 😂

You say that but apparently they are! I’ve had lots of near-misses with drivers turning left into side streets, and looking for addresses, eg delivery drivers. They’re not paying proper attention so do keep your eyes peeled 👀

😱 my goodness, luckily they have all been near-misses and nothing bad happened yet! Stay safe!

Very good. I'm known as the Kirk illuminations in my club because of my bright flashing lights that I wear. Nobody will ever lose sight of me on our evening runs.

Good for you too! Better be seen than be flattened!

Yup! All done up like a downtown Christmas tree🎄 That’s the way to do it!

I like getting the gear on. It’s a statement of intent 😃

I won’t be buying the shoe-heel horseshoe shaped ones again. I’ve lost them all. They just fall off

in reply tomisswobble

Those shoe-heel lights indeed sound like they are on a precarious place. They get a shock with every step, so I can imagine they can fall off quickly.
