HHM Training - Week 5 Day 5

Indoors: Little tempo run this morning at the gym. The training is going to get progressively tougher from here on in, starting with another 10K tomorrow, which I’m hoping to run outside, early. Felt my groin tweak again a little bit at the beginning of this morning’s run. Going to have to keep massaging and stretching it and hopefully it’ll stand up.

You're doing great - just need to make sure that niggle isn't getting any worse. Be honest with yourself 😀

Yeah, I thought the injury was healed but after today I don’t think so. If I keep taking days off my training I won’t be able to complete all the training days. But I may have to take another day off and do the 10K on Thursday.

So long as you keep doing the long runs, missing the odd run in between shouldn't be too problematic. Most plans end up being adjusted!!!

Fingers crossed the tweak stays a tweak and doesn’t get worse 🤞

Yes it’s a worry and the long runs are hard on the groin too. I’ve started my fundraising so pulling out isn’t an option, so the safest thing to do is keep taking rest days and scale down the training.

It’s always a tricky balancing act but at the end of the day you don’t want to get injured enough that will keep you out of running for a while.

I’ve pulled out of a few races after fundraising but every single donor understood and let their donation go ahead. People are usually just impressed with the intention and whatever training we do 🙂

Yes that’s true, but even if I have to walk it I’m doing it!

Try not to worry! Race days are fun! 😃

Doing the distances on the plan are a guide but we don’t need to flog ourselves to death to tick them off. We want to be on the start line in good order, so if you have to back off the pace then do so.

I’ve had a bit of a knee this week and it’s from doing speed intervals on my stoney trail. I’ll move to a better surface for the next one.

Yeah I might have to revert to super slow just to cover the distance. Think my groin is going to stop me pushing hard.
