Enzo had to come with early today as it looked like rain later. We were both a tad grumpy about the situation and about the early start. I packed my phone pocket with doggy do bags and tried to enthuse us both with a warm up routine around the dog bed.
Enzo and I have never really managed to compromise about when it is ok to lunge into hedges, bins, interesting clumps of grass or lamp posts. I was trying 7minute intervals at 5k pace. I can’t actually do 5k at this pace. I wasn’t happy.
Enzo was particularly interested in all and more of the said articles this morning and we had a discussion about not doing this and yanking my arm out of its socket.
We did pretty well for a while, NRC was telling me about breathing but my breathing wasn’t having it.
Then Enzo saw another dog, tripped me up and I had both feet off the ground. Somehow stayed upright, and we eyed each other and decided this was a very bad idea.
Can’t believe I completed these intervals; they were not fun. But ✔️ even with 🐕!

Well extra kudos to you for even trying CNS! Intervals are hard enough work without a furry pal trying to throw curveballs at you! Even my little Lab, who is a seasoned parkrunner with me, wouldn’t manage it! 😅
Well done comfortnotspeed and Enzo. It sounds like you have both had a full body workout as well as intervals. Well done for staying on your feet too! I do a warm up walk with our labrador then leave her snoozing at home on her bed while I go for a run!
Oh dear I just had to laugh at this - a bit stressful for you but must have been hilarious to watch. Well done for actually finishing what you set out to do - I think I would have called it a day when nearly taking a tumble. 😂🏃♀️🐕🐶🐕🦺
Ha ha 😁. They are funny 😁. I tried to take a photo of some visiting cormorants while having the lead around my twist. Stupid me 🙈. I never made that mistake again
The chap at my run shop was sporting stitches in his forehead recently, his hound having tripped him up 🤕
The good outweighs the bad though 😃👍. Your dawg will be angelic on your next run 👍
Blimey...this run could’ve had such a different ending!!! Enzo sounds very much like my Monty...I DO NOT take him on any of my runs because he is far too sniffy and cocks his leg up at everything vertical so nope, no chance am I taking him...maybe Enzo needs to just watch you out of the window 🪟😜 🐕🦺 the only time I run with Monty is when he escapes out of the garden and I’m running up the main road after him in my jamas yelling ‘STOP THAT DOG!!!’ 🤪
They’re a total embarrassment ☺️ Mine would chase motorbikes. If one 😃had to stop at a junction, he’d catch up then set about their toecaps. He had many a boot up the arris 🙈
I run with my mum and love it! She has a special harness round her hips (so arms not stretched 😉) and I have my running harness too. Mum likes it when I pull her up the hills 😂Yes I do like chasing leaves, 🐿 etc but usually mum manages to stay upright although the other day she fell over and it wasn’t my fault - I was running free 🤪
Dogs!! Running with Molly really wouldn’t work. 40kg of Old English Sheepdog with a low centre of gravity, not to mention four legs, wanting to run off to see people and play with other dogs and me trying to run in a straight line would only have one outcome. Me falling in a heap! On the other hand we have lovely walks and I get to chat with lots of interesting people who she brings under her spell. 😉
