I ran on Hove seafront yesterday and managed 5K in a fairly decent time. Since completing a 13K run a few weeks ago I’ve really been struggling to manage any kind of distance. I do have an ongoing lung issue and am waking up wheezing most nights. I am going to go back to the hospital for more texts to discover whether it’s COPD or just asthma. In any case the fact I managed to finally complete a distance further than 4K has given me hope I can get back to the longer distances. The last time I attempted to run the Hove 5K (which is actually the Park Run course) I ended up walking for some of it as I set off too fast. My split times for yesterday were 6’50” 6’57” 6’56” 7’03” and 7’05” - this was actually my outdoor PB and I had to stop to tie my shoelace at one point.
I will start pushing myself to run further again starting with 6K this coming week and then slowly build back to where I was before. I have the Hackney Half Marathon to run in September and I really need to get my distances back up for that. Hopefully my dodgy lungs will allow me to start building again.

Good luck for your Hackney Half Marathon next September, I hope your lungs will not cause you any problems after the hospital tests. That was a good run for you yesterday, 35 minutes for a 5K is OK, I ran a 5K as well yesterday in a little over 37 minutes, I wish you well for your HM training.
That's a good run! Have you thought about following the Magic 10k plan over on Bridge to get back to 10k? It can be good to have some structure if that works for you. The only suggestion I'd make is that while you are building distance it helps to drop pace - that will come later. Good luck.
Check out the running shoe lacing on You Tube. I learnt to do a double knot in a reef knot on my laces. Why didn't I do that before, rather than a granny knot? It never occurred to me - and me and my kids (and my Dad) a Scout all those years.
