This was my effort to get back to running today. This was just my second run in 16 days and the last one I stopped after 1.5K due to a retching issue. Sadly the issue is not resolved but this time I soldiered on for 4K despite coughing and retching for some of it, though not as violently as before. I think it’s either a sinus issue or a stomach acid problem. I’m already on omeprazole for stomach acid but I think a chat with my GP is required.
The retching aside my legs were feeling achy (as usual) after my first run in such a long time. It feels like I’ve lost a bit of fitness but some of that may be purely psychological as I know I can often ignore the aches and carry on to long distances. Anyway, the important thing is that I’m back at it.
The Hackney Half Marathon has now been postponed until September which gives me time to build my fitness back up and hopefully deal with this health issue. My skinny latte and croissant tasted as good as ever and I’m just glad to be back out there in slightly warmer weather now, though this morning was still chilly.

Yes I would say get that checked out sooner than later. I had acid issues for over 10years with my doc just prescribing stronger antacids. It got worse and worse until I finally changed docs and she sent me to a GI specialist who determined it was a gall bladder issue. It was removed and the acid problem was gone and life was manageable again. Second opinions are so worthwhile. Your solution may well be much simpler but its better to be sure.
