Set out to do 7k and I did!!

I’ve decided I need to run to a plan or I lose focus. I’m back on jujus magic plan to try to improve my speeds. Some cruel person also suggested hills help with speed. 😱😧😥. I hate hills but I’ll give it a go...

So I’ve jumped in at week 3 and yesterday evening I did the 7k ( and 3rd) run of the week. It went quite well really. I set off when it was cloudy , thinking it would be cooler... not really .....and about 1k in it started a gentle drizzle that was quite refreshing but did get me soaked to the skin by the end of the run. I couldn’t decide if it was sweat, rain or a combination of the 2, running into my eyes and stinging by the end of the run.

The run itself was pretty uneventful except for the ankle niggle starting again after 6k. I was just determined to finish it though so kept going but it is still sore underneath the foot today ( couldn’t sleep again after I woke for the loo at 1.30) but as I have an appointment with the lovely Emma, my sports masseuse, at 10.40 today I shall get her to work her magic and I’m sure I’ll be good after that.

I was actually surprised to see I was slightly faster on this run than on my 5k one on Tuesday. Shaved 22 seconds per km off. I have to make a conscious effort now to rein in my speed in my warm up or I burn out too quickly. Then I get annoyed when I just miss a PB and think “ if I’d not slowed at the beginning....”. Can’t win eh??

I have always just gone out and run but I think I’m going to shake up my runs with the dreaded intervals and some ( small) hills.......to see if it makes a difference.

Might even go for my 2nd ParkRun on Saturday if I’m up in time. It’s usually the only day I sleep in.

Anyway I think I’ve recovered from my long run now and more or less back to normal ( whatever that is🤣)

I’ve done them a couple of times but I feel “safe” when I run at the same pace and it shakes me up when I have to change up a gear 🤣🤣

I thought I was going to die when I lived in Chippy and started c25k. But I survived, the hills got easier and I took them for granted. They will improve your stamina and your running no end

I used to run up the hill to the hospital. That was 25 years ago though.when it gets cooler maybe....?

At the mo my glutes are agony after my sports massage this morning. I thought it was only the left side but it was both and she did warn me it would be worse before it got better. Can’t even think about running.🥴

I hate hills and I hate intervals, but I am embracing my "outside the confort zone" running and trying to see it as an opportunity rather than a horrid thing to do :D

Yes that’s what I am trying for

I apply the same logic to the stairs at the station that I used to hate. I still don't like them much but I no longer hate them lol
