Hi I have decided to concentrate now on distance as speed or getting runs done in a certain time dosent bother me anymore I find it harder to go for a run a d trying to get it done faster no from now on it's all about distance not speed I find that I can enjoy the run better if am not trying for a time which I used to do but not anymore. Am just going to plod on and not to worry about time .I do like running most of the time of course we all have bad days as I have had plenty of them lately and getting out there really helps I think well most of the time it does so no more speed for me just distance as I realy enjoyed the marathon I did on Sunday I know sorry going on about it but as just over 2years ago I struggled running a bath never mind running a marathon but there you go .anyway to all of you just starting c25k it works I promise you as the great advice you get on here is fantastic and fantastic bunch of people please listen to them slow and steady I YOU will get there good luck everyone and enjoy running

A man after my own heart Paul! Except you’ve run a marathon and I certainly haven’t. 🙄

I love your mindset. It’ll get you far, literally! Enjoy your runs. You deserve to be happy, and here’s to some lovely long ones in the coming months. 😀

I totally understand Paul. I can’t begin to imagine what you’re going through. We’re all glad you’ve found running again, and if it can help you cope if only whilst you’re out, that’s a good thing for your mental and physical health. 😀

Keep doing it for you and your lovely wife. 🥰

Running long and slow is lovely. Taking in the sights and sounds, having a break to eat and maybe take some photos. Searching out new routes around our homes. Keeping fit and staying healthy🙂💪👍🏃‍♂️

Having time out from our daily worries of home and work etc is much-needed.

Enjoy those runs Paul 😃👍🏃‍♂️

I'm with you all the way on just running ignoring speed. It is quite liberating to go for the pleasure of the run. Nobody can keep improving speed so that way just faces lots of disappointments. Well done reaching marathon distance, I'm on my way to ½marathon but as I run about 7:15/km or slower to keep HR manageable anything under 3 hrs will be good. Happy running 🤗

A great decision! Long, slow runs help you relax and find a comforting rhythm; they get you away from hustle and bustle and, for a short time, you can release some of all that stress. Keep going!!!

Seems like a good plan Paul. I hope the long runs bring you some needed relief. I know for me the long weekend runs are what I look forward to more than almost anything these days. A bit of time to clear your head and regroup. I’m not so big on chasing speed right now. If I am feeling I go, if not, no worries.

I agree! I don’t enjoy running fast! Plodding is much more enjoyable!

When I did c25k I want to do 5k in under 30mins I think a managed about 33mins which I thought stuff it that will do me then I started longer runs which I think am doing at the average time anyway so like I said just slow and longer from now on that will do me

If I had just ran a marathon I think I'd never stop talking about it!! Yep, your plan sounds good, just enjoy it and hopefully it will help with clear your head a bit. At the moment I'm just going out with no real plans at all, I plan the route as I go, sometimes very short, sometimes a bit longer, no pressure. take care

I also agree, not worried about times, just happy to be out running, and prefer the longer distances, especialy with lockdown. I dont know the story with your wife, but i lost mine to cancer, 2 years ago, and find running such a good way to focus, and sometimes just switch of from everything. ☺I'm hoping to get to HM in the next few months. 🤞

It's not easy, but you have to get back up, and keep going, i have three grown up kids, who are still with me, so we help each other, and with time, feels a bit easier. Dont bottle things up, talk to people, it's good to cry, keep up with the running, it will really help! 🏃‍♂️💪💪
