On this beautiful November morning perfect for running in and my 1 year anniversary week since I completed couch to 5k (30 minuets of running I still haven’t ran it in 30mins) I ran my 1st ever half marathon 🏃🏻♀️ Whoop Whoop 🙌
I prepared well with increasing Carbs this week, plenty of water the day before and set off with a breakfast of Groats and fruit - digested. Off I set for a mixture of canal and road running, taking a break to eat a homemade flapjack at 14k having topped up with water and tailwind nutrition on route.
At 18k I started to feel a little tired but forged on eating a jelly baby to distract me. Before I knew it Strava was telling me I’d completed 21k so carried on for an extra .2 to ensure I’d completed the
So over the past 12 months my goals were:
✅5k
✅10k + 10k vitality for my first bit of Bling
✅10miles
✅21.1k (ran 21.2k to be certain)
✅Joining the LEJOG04 group - now 307miles - passed the 300miles this morning! Postcard received and ready to go on the map.
Health:
✅Lost 3 stones in weight
✅Blood pressure under control
✅High Cholesterol under control
Celebrated at lunch with some homemade Rhubarb crumble out of the freezer last night as a bit of an incentive - much to my husbands delight! to put back some of the 1573 calories used!
So I’m absolutely thrilled and so proud to have done this, but my heartfelt thanks goes to everyone on all the groups at every stage for being so supportive and encouraging, I couldn’t have done it without you all. Thank you so much.
Off to ask for my half marathon badge now
