I was looking forward to my run today. A cool breezy morning, clouds scudding across the sky πŸπŸŒ¬β˜οΈπŸ‚ - absolutely my favourite type of weather to run in! πŸ™‚

My plan was for a 14k as part of my HM training but with the possibility of a second 10 miles if all went well.

I wore my Aonijie hydration vest for the first time today too but more of that later.

My route was a mix of tarmac and trails - beautiful in the woods and around the farmland. I settled in to a steady pace and all was 'mostly good'! A bit of a niggle below my left knee at about 9 and then later at all bout 13k. I reaffirmed my positive mindset with a few of those winning mantras, as you do! πŸ˜‰ The niggle went - I decided to push on to 10 miles - the niggle returned at about 15k!

In all honesty, I think I was running on tired legs - hill repeats earlier in the week and extended shorter runs. I made a mental note to drop the hill repeats for a bit while I am extending my distance again.

The last couple of k were not my finest(!) but Garmin tells me I was a few minutes faster than last time, so that's a positive!

As for the hydration vest - the jury's still out! πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Yes, it's comfy and carries everything I need but I also found it quite hot to wear, even in the cooler temperatures today. Maybe it's just a case of getting used to it but I think at the moment I prefer my belt.

Off for a well earned soak in an Epsom salts bath now! πŸ™‚

Sounds like a tough run Sandraj39, but you got through it and there’s a lot of positives to take from it!πŸ™‚πŸ‘

I use my hydration vest for most runs over 10K. I think it’s just a matter of getting used to it. I find it’s much easier than a belt but we’re all different😊

Thanks David,I will give the vest another go, but I'm not convinced yet.πŸ™‚

Great job! Perseverance won the day. Do include the 'pain is just weakness leaving your body' mantra in your toolbox πŸ˜€. Hope the soak sorts the niggle.

Perfect - "Pain is just weakness leaving my body"! Got it! I wil try that next time, although I hope I don't need it! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚

Congratulations Sandra!! Woo-hoooo πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

You are well positioned to do your HM now. I have got used to my vest now and prefer it to a belt as it used to weigh on my tummy. My back always gets sweaty after but I do prefer carrying the weight this way. Whatever makes you comfortable though! Definitely strong progress to 13.1 though 😁

Thanks GTFC, although I didn't feel too strong today at times! πŸ™‚

Well done πŸ‘. Great job πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Cooler is good, as at the moment it’s still warmish πŸ™‚

I hope your salt bath will reach the parts ..... πŸ›€ and it will ease your achey muscles

I am doing ok with my Aonijii vest. I wore an Adidas Climalite tee with it the other day and it felt ok. I am after the bit bigger one with side cubbies and extra pockets in front of the bottle pockets I found that one of my generous power bars fit ok in the front gel pocket (where the whistle is). It expanded πŸ™‚. The side cubbies one seems to be in male colours though β˜ΉοΈπŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Definately feeling more comfortable now thanks and am wondering if it's connected to me taking a tumble last weekend? I was ok on my shorter runs though.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

I agree it was easier to get to everything with the vest..we'll see.πŸ™‚

I am sure you will get used to the hydration vest Sandraj39. I never put more water in the bladder than I will need, and expel all the air so it doesn’t swoosh around. My flipbelt is fine for a 10 mile race where water is supplied en route, but when training I found the vest was better for carrying everything I need for fuel and hydration. You are doing really well.

I have a fine selection of belts Dexy, but will no doubt give it another go! I don't have a bladder for mine, but soft flasks in the front.πŸ™‚

Wonderful Sandra! The perfect weather for it, you’re right. Well done for the 10 miles, you’ve definitely earned that Epsom Salts soak! πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I’ve yet to wear my vest this year. I’ll need it for my virtual HM in October so I’d better crack it back out on my next long run. I didn’t ever find it hot from memory, but I guess it’s what you’re used to. πŸ˜€
