HUHM v10k Part 2 Report

So glad you put this one on the Virtual schedule as I might have chickened out of a 10k this week. The sports massage was brutal on Tuesday and left me with bruises until Saturday! However, she's certainly done a good job and I am much more mobile than I was - Achilles appears to be on the mend with the help of heel raises and spikey balls, yay!! My right hip still needs some help though so I may have to resort to the osteopath on that one. I sound like I'm falling apart but we all need some help from time to time don't we and I have lasted quite a while and a fair few miles, I just need servicing 😂

Anyway, I decided this was going to have to be slower. It's easier to do a slower run when it's not just before work and it's a bank holiday - so much more time to play with afterwards! And as you can see in the piccie, we got to chill at a cafe afterwards - yummy brownie, my current wheat free diet (wow I sound like a right hypochondriac at the moment!) forced me to have one of these instead of a croissant with my lemon & ginger tea.

Before that though, we chose a route we've not done in a while. It was perfect conditions, sunny day, cool wind, not too busy, and I managed to keep Katnap down to a reasonable conversational pace the whole way. Nothing particularly unusual on the run apart from the biggest puffball mushroom we have ever seen - there's going to be some good foraging this year. The route is a big loop around the local countryside and then back into Stratford upon Avon via the long straight road with the very big posh houses on it. Katnap uses that one for his club time trials.

It being a bank holiday weekend, by the time we got back into town it was very busy but thankfully the cafe wasn't. I think I may have worried a few customers with my sweaty appearance (I can do that without running 10k at my age 🙄) but we stayed outside and watched the face-masked world go by. The table was just the right height to get some calf stretches in too.

A gentle 1:09:58 according to Garmin, which will do me fine, although if I'm to do the 10 miles in a few weeks time it may have to come down slower than that.

Have a super bank holiday everyone 👏👏👋

Well, you didn’t want to look! 😂

Brilliant you two! Gosh TC, how fast will you be when you’re fully MOT’d? I can’t run anywhere near as fast as you and I’m (touching wood frantically) injury free! All that and you can do camel pose. I’m not worthy! 🤣

Very well done on your 10k. Can’t wait to see you in September. 🏃‍♀️🏃🏃‍♀️🏃

I feel like a bike (possibly not the best analogy but hey ho!!) whose gears are crunching at the moment, just need to be tweaked and oiled!

And anyway, you can do a 30 second Crow cheeky and that is way more impressive than a Camel! For all my weight training I haven’t the upper body strength and balance for that!

Looking forward to seeing you too! 👏👏👏

I expect linda9389 can do camel and crow with ease, and she can do a headstand! 🤣🤣

She’s just Superwoman!! Just in awe of Linda!

Yeah that's me 🤪

Superwoman ... but only when I'm not injured and I seem to be injured a lot of the time 😀

When I told my pilates teacher how old I was the other day she looked shocked... said I didn't move like I was that old 🤪 That's closer to the truth than 'superwoman', but I'll still take it as a win 😍

Pah!

Well, you’re superwoman to us because you help drive us all on and help us move like we’re younger than we are (even when we’re injured too but I don’t think cheeky is ever injured!!) 💪

Thanks Floss, I’ll get there eventually. Katnap keeps saying he should see the sports masseur but I think I put him off each time I go 🤣 Have a good one too x

Fancy running 10k with Superman! Awesome Katnap

You have already finished and Breakfasted and I’m not out of bed yet. But that sounds like a sensible move while all the tourists are returning to Stratford-upon-Avon. Well done to you both.

Tell me, what have you been doing with the spiky ball?

TailChaser profile image
TailChaserMarathon in reply to Dexy5

The spikey balls are ace Dexy! I sit at my desk and roll them around on my bare feet so they massage the plantar. I get cramp really easily in my arches and it’s all part of the Achilles problem. Might help you? They are very useful to have anyway as they’re great at getting knots out of upper back muscles.

Nicely done TC! Glad the pummeling has helped ... and the bruises are fading 😀

Thank you Linda! Yeah, me too. She always makes a difference, it’s just there was 5 months worth of knots this time 😖👍

Well TC! Despite all those little “iggles” you did well. That sports massage sounds brutal. The first time I had one I was bruised for ages afterwards but I don’t think you’re supposed to have bruising 😫

Honestly, the things we do for this running lark 🙄

But tea and cake afterwards always makes it worthwhile.

Ps yes Katnap does look as if he’s falling asleep 😂

I must have worn him out IP! He's such a lightweight 🤣

I know, I wonder that every time I have to make an appointment. I don't think she can avoid bruising me tbh, I had fingermarks in my calves the first time she did them as they were so tight. Thankfully they've eased off now but they needed (kneaded?) a lot of work. I have little legs but they have quite chunky muscles these days.

I love cake...and tea of course, but in that order 😋
