Change of training plan

I had been using a Garmin Coach plan, however with the recent Garmin issues that has been unavailable for a few days. Therefore I have taken this as a chance to switch to another plan, as I was going off the Garmin plan a bit anyway. I've previously done the Garmin 10k Greg plan which I found pretty good. This time I was doing the Amy HM plan, however I've found the runs so far were very similar (almost all short/medium/long easy runs) while the distances were getting very long (this week was due to do 24 miles in total which seems a lot given less than half way through a 19 week plan!) The other general problem with GC plans (not specific to this one) is you only see a few runs ahead, which makes it difficult to plan (particularly with holidays etc coming up!)

Therefore have now switched to the Runners World Beginners plan, which seems more varied and realistic. It also has more options for cross-training which suits me better, and having the full schedule allows me to plan the coming weeks better. I'll keep the GC plan on my phone as well (when it comes back) just to see if it comes up with any interesting advice - and leaves an option in case I change my mind and want to switch back!

I've never used GC, but don't think I'd like not seeing ahead either. I'm constantly juggling things around which would be tough if I couldn't look ahead. On the other hand, if I didn't plan so far ahead then maybe I wouldn't need to juggle so much 😅. Not going to change though. Good luck with your new plan 👍💪
