HM training not going to plan!!

I have not run for 9 days (self-isolating due to a child in my class testing positive) so my training plan now has lots of crosses and sad faces on it! :( I have been exercising though - stretching, a bit of cardio and Tai Chi, which I am really enjoying (see post in Strength and Flex)

Back to school tomorrow for the last few days of the term and realistically next run will be Friday or Saturday. The weekly totals were going well until last week: Week 1 - 18km Week 2 - 20km Week 3 - 22km Week 4 - a big fat zero km! Luckily the school holidays means that I will be able to fit in extra runs next week to make up for the lost km - probably do a gentle 5km, then a 10km and hopefully 14km later next week. We are then on holiday for a week and it was going to be a rest week, although lots of walking planned, but now I will be packing the running kit and hopefully fitting in a run or two!

I hope everyone else's training is going to plan!

Plans are deigned to be tweaked SS! Maybe not the way that you planned, but you’ll find a way to ramp up the kms again once schools break up. And on the plus side, you’re not having to run in this current furnace! 🔥🔥

Enjoy your holiday, and if you can fit a run or two in, brilliant. 😀

My plan is taking a relaxed approach this week. I did a slow 8 miles on Sunday and really very slow 31 minute recovery run today. It was simply too hot to do much. Tomorrow’s run is a speed run ….. 😳😀🥵

Yes, I agree - pleased that I didn't have to run in the hot weather last week! Hubby was off before 6am on Monday to fit in his run but it was very warm even at that time!

My HM plan is on pause at the moment, it's way too hot for me. I'm still hoping to get three runs in this week on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. We shall see! Like you, we're going to be on holiday soon (first two weeks in August) so I'll try to do what I can. It's all we can do, keep trying and adjusting, we'll get there in the end! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Best of luck with fitting in three runs this week - hot, hot, hot !!🥵

Frustrating, but at least you are still fit and uninjured, so you should be able to pick up again with little problem. Enjoy that week away - i'm sure you are more than ready for it!

Plans are made to change! Don’t worry Sue, my plan has gone a bit awry too. We can only do what we can do. We’ll be fine come the day 👍

Yes, I am sure it will be fine 😊

Nay stress skysue16! My HM plan, such as it was, is on hold due to the weather. I’m just trying to fit in what I can when I can - very slow, much shorter runs. It’s a bit of a vicious circle ⭕️, sleep badly due to heat, can’t get up early enough before work, then it’s too hot. Aye yay, we’ll get there 😊😊😊.

I have managed a couple of runs before work - but I have been starting later recently. It is tricky in this weather......

Yes, I am glad I made myself do some exercises and stretches every morning. I hope your calf improves quickly 😊

I am not advocating this, but on holiday I did every other day runs of 5,6,7 and 8 k…against all known good practice. I just got fed up of being held back by niggles and decided to go for it! 🤞13k on Saturday 🤞

I did consecutive short runs over the half term without any difficulties but it is not something I would do too often 😊

My HM plan has a slow 5k and a 30 minute tempo run on consecutive days. It is going ok so far. Spreading the distance increase over 4 days might have advantages. Time will tell.

That is frustrating! I'm scared of getting a phone call telling me I need to isolate in all honesty.

Plans will always be there to wait for you though don't worry - especially with a week thank goodness!

Yes, a bit frustrating but maybe the complete rest (work and running) was a good thing.
