Lovely 10k in the sunshine

I’ve decided I’m going to run a 10k each week during May and try to increase my pace slightly. This morning was a gorgeous sunny day, cool (about 7c) and no wind. Hardly a car or person in sight, just the Red Arrows practising social distancing somewhere overhead. Last week’s 10k was awful and by the time I finished I almost felt as though I was crawling resulting in 1:06:38. This week felt much better and I even managed negative splits for the final 4K, finishing on my fastest K of 6.15. Total time 1:04:07. Not a PB but going in the right direction. Next one will be on Monday when I shall pretend I’m doing Cape Wrath 10k, although it will be a huge stretch of the imagination - rugged north coast of Scotland or rural Lincolnshire 🤔 Enjoy the sunshine VRBs.

Finishing with negative splits always feels like a good run! 💪

Nice one Sandie. 👏👏 Good idea doing your weekly 10k. It’s been a nice focus for me too - in fact I ended up doing two last week due to the last minute chance to earn some bling (virtual Bristol 10k). 🏅

The weather is certainly lovely at the moment. I’ll be going out early tomorrow morning. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Happy safe running! 😘

Green with envy Sandie!! Tempted to just try a run and sod it! Really pleased you had a good run though; those fly boys just won’t leave you alone !! 🙂

Are you still having problems BC? Yep, it’s great to see the Reds back in action after they had about 4 weeks grounded. Apparently they have strict regulations on flying time and frequency for safety, although whether anybody else will get to see them this year seems doubtful 😢

They did a short display over her Isles of Scilly while we were on holiday a couple of years ago. Superb 360 degree view. Having a rest from hill walks today; maybe they are not helping. So frustrating!!

It’s really funny, I still stop to watch them when they fly over. My son, on the other hand, having grown up with them flying over his school thinks “It’s only the Red Arrows”. Only 😳

Seen too many sci fi films! The Battle of Britain flight always stops me in my tracks; showing my age!

Have you ever been to one of the Battle Proms? Fantastic night out (when we can)!

I was there for that display- probably sitting next to you. Amazing wasn't it! 😃

Just had a look. Given a bit of summer warmth they must be wonderful evenings. It will all be there when this thing passes.

We did Burghley House a couple of years ago. One of the best nights we’ve had for a long time!

That’s fast! 🔥👍🏃‍♀️

My niece lives in rural Lincs in airforce territory I once ran early morning around a former airforce base for a snoop. Interesting places 🙂

We’re just 3 miles from RAF Scampton of Red Arrows fame ✈️

My niece is not far! We once went mooching round there too, in the car though, on our way home from our niece's. I thought Red Arrows had flitted from there now though. It's all about the RAF in that area isn't it. We found a quiet beach to take our barmy dog but the RAF was training on it as it's a bombing range, so we got in the car and drove to the next one. Guess what! The fighter jets followed us! You don't hear em til they're on top of you. Woooohoo! On the beach there are signs, "do not pick up items from this beach, they may explode and kill you" !

My mate lives on the beach at Humberston. If you get chance, and haven't already visited, go to Spurn Point and spend the day there. The cafe and car park is at the start. No dogs though! There was a dead Fletcher whale there when we went. Huge thing and it was only a young un.

Apparently there were around 50 airfields during WW2. TheReds are due to move out but we don’t yet know where or when. I will really miss them when they go. Donna Nook is one of the most important seal breeding areas in the country and is in the middle of a bombing range. Well worth a visit between mid November and mid December though 🦦 (not entirely sure this is a seal 🤣)

It’s a lovely coast! So many lonely, windswept bits. Huttoft is another The nearby Wainfleet Allsaints is a good visit. A blast from the past. We went there to check out a mock Georgian street, strangely at odds with the neighbouring workers’ cottages. Bateman’s Mill is there, also worth a visit. I’ve still got a bottle of their bottle-conditioned beer for making malt loaf. I made one and it’s gorgeous. It tastes better as it ages - like the beer maybe 😋

There’s a tiny camp site there too

I’ve been to Donna Nook several times. It’s an annual trip isn’t it. Or should be 🙂

Love it when the numbers start going down! Every little achievement on Strava is like a 🥇! Well done on your 10k plans. I set off on Thursday with the intention of the same, but after impromptu route adjustments to avoid narrow paths with dog walkers I ended up with 5.7 miles and ran out of road.😞 I appreciate that I could’ve run round the block to finish it, but the neighbours were out. One was gardening in the front and the other side was helping his 4 year old with cycling with stabilisers! Felt a bit foolish, did a few stretches to look like I knew what I was doing and went in! Will try again later.🤦‍♀️
