Getting some (more) nature in

These last few weeks have found me going further afield in the early morn to get my long runs in quietly since our local parks have a few too many people, but they are still quiet further north and west of us. As a result, I’ve found some real gems that I will definitely be revisiting. Last week was one of the best with a trip to a nature reserve and though it was a tough lonely run, the scenery more than made up for it. Only saw a few walkers on the entire 24k route. Also saw a beaver and otter and stopped to take plenty of photos/vids and catch my breath :). I am finding these trail runs really energizing and peaceful. I’ve seen studies that speak to dramatic blood pressure and stress reductions while in nature and I really think it is true. Hope you are able to do what you need to during this time to clear your head.

It really was IP. There were one or two mornings when no one else was about. Mind you it can be a bit spooky at times too. I am still trying to work out if I disturbed a ghost or something when a stick leaning on a post suddenly flew in the air with no wind 👀😳

Now that does sound spooky 😱 but given that nature has been around a lot longer than us then I’m not surprised that things can happen we don’t understand. Stay safe in all ways 🙂

Yes, as this area was originally home to Indigenous Peoples around 12,000 years ago, my mind was racing too. Needless to say I quickened my pace after that 😁

Absolutely beautiful Decker ❤️

I tend to do most of my running on the road, but I am surrounded by incredible trails. It may be time to buy some trail shoes 😂 x

I mean, yes, of course you need new shoes. What was I thinking? 🤣

Oh if you have trails nearby you need to try them out! Just try to keep an eye on where you are. I am always getting lost when Google maps drop out. You don’t really need trail shoes initially unless you have really muddy sections.

Looks fabulous Decker. Running and nature, together, are so powerful. A glorious upside to the current situation.

The funny part is I had no idea of many of these trails until I was forced to change my routes.

Great photos Decker. I’m planning to go farther afield too in the coming months with some Jeffing trips up to 30k (2k run, 1k walk repeat x10) using my hydration backpack and taking some picnic items for halfway etc.
