High Park Toronto run

Had a great group run downtown from the new MEC store through High Park and back with our run group . It was a 15k run, so I took the subway partway down and ran around an extra 5k to make 20. Ran past Jurassic Park and the big Raptors mural in the pic. We had a great turnout, saw some Wood Ducks in the wooded park, found some trails and hills, and ran through many different neighbourhoods and a few graffiti alleys. The weather was perfect, sunny with a cool breeze. I’ve missed the last few Ninja runs so I really appreciated this one. All in all, a lovely day out.

Whoohoo Go Raptors Go! I couldn't believe how long the last few seconds drug out in the final game, but they came through!

Sounds like a great run with your run group through some neat areas. Such variety in your city to run through.

I know, you think it’s done and its not! We were going crazy, but they did pull through in the end. So surreal. I think this will do big things for the sport in Canada.

It was a great morning with a North Face ultra athlete dropping in as well with us. Running through the streets, you get a real sense of so many cultures and such diversity in this city. Living in the north end we don’t get downtown that often

Well done Decker. I read Jurassic Park and Raptors and was expecting some dinosaur pictures. Took me a moment to notice the team nems on the basketball players t-shirts!

Yeah I should have explained it was our team name🦖 😁, they just became the NBA champs this last week

Congratulations to the Raptors. I haven't followed NBA in years, since I was a teenager in the 90s. Back when the Chicago Bulls were amazing. From a quick scout online, that is very much no longer the case.

I remember Jordan and the Bulls! They team had their parade today and I’ve never seen anything like it with over 1 million people flooding the route.

How brilliant. Not least for Toronto, but I imagine the whole of Canada must be celebrating too!

Yes as the Raps are the only team north of the US, it will impact many generations to come.

Ducks and Swans and some Geese too. The Wood Ducks were apparently a rare sight (one of our runners is a bit of a bird watcher)

Cool run, sir! You are certainly building it all up for the big one. As for the Raptors, a friend from your town informed me, and l quote - "Toronto went insane!" Well done, you are living amongst the stars aligned.

Thanks Neven! I’ve never seen the city like it was today. Hundreds of thousands of people shoulder to shoulder just going crazy. It really was insane!

Sounds like a nice long run. You must have run though the Annex, the old Italian and Portuguese areas etc. High park is a lovely park. I‘m getting nostalgic. Many years ago I used to live in a couple spots near Bloor in the west. The city must have been so cool to see during the Raptors game and celebration. All your long runs are impressive!

Yes we ran through parts of the Annex I think. The Italian cafes with the scents of fresh coffee were maddening. High Park really is beautiful and I was a bit surprised to find both paved and unpaved trails through the park. Bloor West would be a lovely place to live. Running through the empty Nathan Phillips Square that morn gave me a a great sense of just how many people later fit in there like sardines for the Raptors parade. They said there were almost 2 million fans along the route!! Mind boggling.
