I did it! I stuck to my three chunks of 8k (a year after LLHM 2019), 5.1k and 8k (on the day LLHM should have been on), so was never out for over an hour. I had hoped to wear my LLHM 2019 tshirt for the last run, but it was way too windy and cold for that. Turns out we have quite a few landmarks locally - some well known like the NFTS and Bekonscot, some made famous by Downton Abbey or Midsomer Murders and some which are just plain pretty! Also turns out I can run a HM much faster when you throw in a few nights sleep - even allowing for photo stops!
Evidence submitted (turns out breaking it into chunks was positively encouraged by the organisers of this challenge under current circumstances) and can't wait to receive my bling.
Hope everyone is staying well and safely and creatively working their way through this very peculiar state of affairs!
Take care xxx

I have just discovered after seven and a big half of decades that chunks are the way to go.ππ€£.Dont know why I ever forgot about the long stuff in the middle, and expected to just go from start to the finishing line.ππ€£
Lol. Photography is not my thing ... and I didn't make a great job of labelling them either, but I know what they are and if anyone else feels the need to know ... well, there's an inbuilt free puzzle for them to work it outπ
Just paid my P&P as they accepted y submission - it says 'weβll send you your medal as soon as we can after the challenge has completed on 3rd May'. I'll not be checking the mat any time soon then π
It was a great idea breaking it down into chunks too. I donβt know about you, but I feel like an hour is an acceptable time to be out. Iβm not sure if thatβs the official limit, but it sounds reasonable. π
Enjoy your bling! We want to see a photo of it alongside your virtual Bath HM one too! (Wonder when those will arrive ....?) π π
Michael Gove said something about 30mins to an hour a day should be fine for most regular people. Not sure where that leaves us? Lots of people will be doing double (or more) their normal outdoor exercise time if they do that π€£. So do we have to be out more than normal?π€ͺ At least we know 30mins to an hour is currently deemed acceptable.
Well done Linda! My husband was due to do the LLHM - we weren't aware you could submit a virtual run so will now have a look as maybe he could do this too! π
He certainly can. But so can you! For a Β£12 donation to Tommy's, people who didn't have a place this year can still do the Local Landmarks Challenge. 5k, 10k and HM are all options and they want you to break it up into sensible runs. It's all on the main LLHM website and you have until 3rd May to complete the challenge.
I treated myself to a few bike rides between chunks π€£π€£π€£. Today is a rest day, so I'm not going out to exercise. Hoping I can add my allotted time to Sunday and get out for a slightly longer ride then. Not sure whether that's in the spirit of things though ...
Less on the bike than on my runs. I'm changing my routes a bit so they are all road based - the cycle paths are used by walkers too and have suddenly become very popular!
Iβm not surprised. There was a news article yesterday about the number of runners having increased significantly since the lockdown. I wonder if the number of people starting C25K here has increased.....
Congratulations Linda, chunks or not , you did it. There was something on the news tonight about a lady dressed up as Mozart doing a chunk of the run in her small garden and she was being chased by her dog . I think her next run will be sans dog.
It's amazing what's on our doorstep! I'm beginning to see more beauty in everyday buildings and landmarks that I wouldn't normally see when there were more people and traffic around! Xx
That's so true. I noticed a blue band all the way round the base of one of our old pubs right in the centre of town -' oh, never realised that was Blue and white before' I said ... then it dawned on me that's because the building is always surrounded by park cars in normal times π
