First ever interval training run but got a bit of data confusion! :

Did my first proper interval training run today, 8x1 min @ 5K pace (roughly) with a 1 min recovery in between! Was good fun actually but trying to work out the data, anybody able to explain it to me? (I use the Nike Run App to track my runs and it was an audio guided run titled ' First Interval Run' or something like that!) :-D

It shows how fast you ran on each interval. The red or green shows if one interval was quicker or slower than the preceding one, and by how much. The plan would normally be to achieve consistency and get them all the same pace.

I rarely run these in ideal conditions, eg flat track. It’s on main roads with hills and stop starts for crossings and traffic. I just give it my best.

When you have one of the nike plans running on the app they give you specific pace timings to aim for Intervals using the app could be easier if Nike timed and voiced them like they do for all the other runs Mind you it’s free so we’ve got to manage expectations I suppose 🙂

I ran with Coach Bennett yesterday and I had to stop running at one point as he made me laugh so much 😁

I love Coach Bennett, he does come out with some brilliant tips! Yeah, I live in Bath which is pretty hilly but there is a nice long flat road near my my house and it's perfect for interval training! :-)

Good!

I’ve got a route which goes over two bridges, one Called Magic Bridge as it appeared overnight 😃 It’s very useful. It does have cyclists and mobility scooterists so I keep left 🙂

Yes, what SlowLoris said. Our run group keeps it simple just finds a quiet neighborhood block and runs circles around it, half a block hard and half easy for x number of full circles. Usually somewhere between 6 and 10 depending on the size of the block. Or a highschool track sometimes too.

Yeah I'm not too bothered about the track if I'm honest, I live close to a really long flat road and that does the trick for me! :-D
